Robert Downey Says "Iron Man 4" is NOT Happening

Robert Downey Says "Iron Man 4" is NOT HappeningSubmit Comment
"Iron Man 3" is the sixth highest-grossing film of all time, with over $1 billion in worldwide earnings. The problem is that Robert Downey Jr's contract ran out, which meant that the actor had some serious leverage. He chose not to return for "Iron Man 4." Instead, he signed on for two more "Avengers" installments. And it likely cost Marvel a lot of money to get him back into the Iron Man suit.

Now that Downey is promoting "The Judge" at the Toronto Film Festival, Variety asked him whether he and Marvel have any plans for "Iron Man 4." "There isn't one in the pipe," he replied. "No, there's no plan for a fourth 'Iron Man.'"

When Downey was asked if he would let another actor step into play Tony Stark, he claimed that he has no control over that decision. "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm a casting director for Marvel."

It's impossible that Marvel would give up a franchise as lucrative as "Iron Man." So likely there's a plan for "Iron Man 4," but it probably won't happen until after "Avengers 3."

Yeah bando I have been saying JDM is an obvious choice for Tony Stark does not return for a 4th film. He is practically a dead ringer for RDJ, has a similar sounding voice, and he already played a comic character, albeit an anti-hero as The Comedian in Watchmen.

If RDJ does not return for a 4th film*

It's happening, it's not happeneing. Either make the damned thing or shut the f*ck up already about it.

Not being made or thought of being made at the moment is not the same as "not happening". It only means they have other sh*t going on. But rest assured this isn't the end of Iron Man, whether or not RDJ comes back or someone else takes over.

There WILL be more Iron Man bullsh*t. Money f*cking talks.

Yeah Iron Man 3 made over a billion so there is no way they would never make a 4th one. The One-Shot on the Thor: The Dark World Blu-Ray implies an introduction of The Real Mandarin so logically this could be the story for the 4tg film.

4th

I hope I'm not the only one who never asked for an Iron Man 4.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the perfect dead ringer indeed and he will come a Lot cheaper than RDJ!

Jeffery Dean Morgan would in fact be a terrible choice to supplant Robert Downey Jr. Casting someone merely to mimic, in looks and mannerisms, a previous actor who made the role iconic does nothing but prompt an unavoidable negative comparison: "Here, folks, he kinda, sorta, looks like RDJ! Isnít that great?!"

No, heíll always just be the guy who ISNíT Downy Jr. A no-win scenario no matter how close the resemblance.

If-and-when they do decide to replace Downey Jr., do so with a wholly different actor playing a wholly different character.
