Wesley Snipes to Return For "Blade 4"?

Wesley Snipes to Return For "Blade 4"?Submit Comment
One of the first successful comic book films was Marvel's "Blade," starring Wesley Snipes. The studio has since become a powerhouse and just recently regained the rights to the Blade character.

After being released from prison, Snipes has been on a mission to get his Hollywood career back on track. Unfortunately, "The Expendables 3" flopped and there aren't a lot of offers out there.

NY Daily News has now learned that Snipes is set to reprise the role of Blade in a fourth film. The paper is reporting that the 52-year-old actor will earn $3 million.

While anything is possible, it's incredibly unlikely that Marvel would be interested in returning to the "Blade" franchise, unless it was a TV series. At this point, we have yet to hear anything about a director or a writer working on the project. Stay tuned.

Maybe. Maybe they'll rehire Dolph for the new Punisher. Not really feeling it. He's too old, and Marvel likes fresh takes. They don't care to retread old sh*t. No franchise legs in it. Does Wes even have BO pull? More than likely they'll reboot it aimed at younger audiences. They could reteam Blade with some fresh, young faces but they tried that with Trinity which was a total flop. So no to option one and two. All that's left is options three: reboot.

Sorry Wes. Go suck off Stallone for EX4.

Here's a stretch: play a black marital arts guy who's a greedy d*ckhead, who refuses to pay his fair share of taxes and when caught blames a) his Jewish accountant, b)racism c) forgetfulness, who goes to jail, who gets out, who stars in a lousy roid-raging flop, and who begs to make a sequel to a film franchise that is way past their sell date.

Oh wait, you already played that character in real life.

As much as I want this to happen, I don't believe it will. Let's face it, Disney will not releasing an R rated movie.

I could see that. Indeed Disney won't release it...unless they go through one of their subsidiary studios. Ah Ha! LOL

Wesley did a much better job in the Expendables then I expected. Some overacting throughout scenes but pulled it off despite the sh*t script and directing. Haven't seen the Blade films in a while (1 & 2), it seems HIGHLY unlikely but who knows nowadays, most likely they'll reboot it in a couple years and give him a cameo. I'd like to see more of his range and get him started in some smaller supporting roles sort of like what RDJ did in his comeback.

The best character in ex3 was banderas.he was actually funny

Gibson was so cheated and wasted it made me cry.sly had to take all the damn scenes.gibson needed more screentime

Couldn't agree more ^

They should do a blockbuster 100M budgeted Lethal Weapon 5, get an amazing script and cast and boom, he'll be right back on top!

The first blade movie was a goddamn masterpiece and it's the way they should handle the deadpool movie, straight R rated and holding nothing back. I agree they should reboot it tho, not with someone too young.

@Rambo. Gibson was blacklisted by H'wood over his Jew rant, not that sh*tty PASSION flick. It's a shame.

In the age of the softcore superhero action film id love to see a return to the highly imaginative but brutal action of the Blade series (which doesnt include Trinity in my book). That series set the bar for so much that followed and fundamentally changed so much of the genre. Hell it brought back the action horror genre which had been nearly dead since Aliens all while also breathing new life into the vampire genre that had become completely stagnant and repetitive.

Much like the character Snipes ages well and doesn't look outdated for the role, so why not try another one. With a creative director like they had behind the first two films and a proper R rating who knows, we might just get blown away again by another unforgiving bone crushing film from one of the best antihero series ever made. I hope it gets the treatment it so rightly deserves.

The potentiality of Blade is still solid, if they went the way of action like we saw in the movies The Raid: Redemption or that style of film. If Wesley were to switch roles and have Blade be the mentor/sensei much like Whistler was to Blade, for a new vampire-hunter and mix in even some Helsing or Vampire Hunter D anime stylizing to the story, I would be on board to watch it, as a matinee at best.

The only problem ? Time between the last Blade movie and now. Plus, the third one was just embarrassingly muddled in plot-device and tried to use flippant humor (i.e. Patton Oswalt and Ryan Reynolds) to distract the money-paying audience on a script that was just somewhere between CHUD and Tremors 2 in its structure.

If Wesley loves the character, then he needs to either (a) produce or co-produce only (b) start scouting some very good action directors who can also help to punch up a new script or (c) stay out of it.
