"Looney Tunes" Movie Gets Steve Carell and "X-Men: First Class" Writers

"Looney Tunes" Movie Gets Steve Carell and "X-Men: First Class" WritersSubmit Comment
"X-Men: First Class" writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have signed on to the untitled "Acme" movie project that's based on the popular "Looney Tunes" cartoons. The film will be a CG/live-action hybrid and will not center on "Looney Tunes" characters.

The movie will be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who directed "Crazy Stupid Love." And one of the stars of that movie, Steve Carell, is in talks to star.

Plot details are being kept a secret, but the Acme Corporation is a fictional manufacturer of crazy and sometimes dangerous products that are used by many "Looney Tunes" characters. The company's products are most commonly used by Wile E. Coyote in his never-ending quest to capture the Road Runner.

Ah. A CGI/3D Looney Toons movie that doesn't feature any actual Looney Toons characters but instead offers the unfunny comedic stylings of Steve Carrel and a script from the guys who ripped off Terminator 2 for their comic book movie.

Well. How can I NOT want to see this sh*t?

So basically a movie about ACME, the fictional cartoon company, and not the actual Looney Tunes. So why not call it something involving ACME? Because stupid people, that plurality of moviegoers, will think it's an actual Looney Toons movie?

Bah. Another sh*tty mix of bad live-action "comedy" and wonky exaggerated cartoonish CGI, like the first Journey to the Center of the Earth film with....that guy who used to a comedian...or something.

Will Ferrell! That's his name!

@Mink
Didn't they do this story in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit"?

Steve, before you do this .... talk to Brendan and ask him how it is slumming after Looney Tunes: Back in Action is a 2003 -

That's all I'm saying.

So - based on the standards that Acme gives its items it sells to Wile E Coyote, can the audience expect for this movie to explode upon receipt or fizzle out and die ?
