"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Dominates with $65 Million at Box OfficeSubmit Comment
A reboot of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" hit theaters this weekend and went on to take first place at the domestic box office with $65 million, which is $15 million more than the Paramount Pictures was expecting.

The movie cost $125 million to make and earned another $32.3 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $97.3 million. It should have no problem becoming a big hit. Unfortunately, the reboot has a lousy 19% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" slipped to second place with another $41.5 million to bring its worldwide gross to $313 million in just 10 days.

New disaster film "Into the Storm" landed in third place with $18 million, which is less than half of what "Twister" earned ($41.2 million) about twenty years ago. "Into the Storm" cost $50 million and has a 20% fresh rating.

Taking fourth place was "The Hundred-Foot Journey," from producers Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey. The movie cost $22 million an earned $11.1 million. It has a 64% fresh rating.

The last wide release film was "Step Up All In," the fifth installment in the dance series. It landed in sixth place with $6.6 million, the worst performance in the dying franchise. The movie has a 42% fresh rating.

I'll probably watch into the storm eventually. Some friends are bound to go. Not going to be tuning into TMNT, never watched the show growing up and frankly don't find it that entertaining

It's funny how quickly GotG fell off to make way for a sh*tty, loud, obnoxious Megan Fox movie starring a bunch of CGI turtles. Just goes to show you Marvel's empire is an empire only because there's no quality competition.
