In a new interview, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" directors Anthony and Joe Russo spoke about the third installment, stating that it will in part focus on Steve Roger's complicated relationship with his childhood friend Bucky, the Winter Soldier.

"The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose. So it's hard to get away from that nature," said Anthony, adding that the third film will have some surprises. "[We'll be] bringing some new elements to the table that will give us a twist on 'Winter Soldier.'"

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" grossed $713 million at the worldwide box office and is set to be released digitally on August 19th, and then on DVD and Blu-ray on September 9th.

The politics and propaganda behind CA is essential to his character. Cap is a soldier, a tool in a much bigger homegrown political machine, but the last film put him in a situation where he had to question his authority and the entities driving that machine. He really had to become his own man and operate outside the lines he was all to use to following, which was really cool imo. The whole Bucky thing seemed like more of a side story in the face of this bigger dilemma. Gearing the next movie more around Cap and Bucky's relationship seems like focusing on the least interesting or important thing of the last film imo.

Still a big fan of the last film. Easily one of the best comic book films ever imo.

So what? Captain America and the Winter Soldier become lovers?

@SACdaddy

That's a lot of 'imo'.

I can't believe that their relationship would complicate at all. Just because they're both supposed to be long long dead by now and have both been turned into super soldiers for opposite sides. That's no need to make things weird.
