Universal Pictures Acquires Anne Rice's Entire "Vampire Chronicles" Book Series

Universal Pictures Acquires Anne RiceSubmit Comment
Universal Pictures just acquired the rights to Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicles" series, which includes existing and future novels. There are a total of thirteen books in the main series, with another "Price Lestat" hitting stores in October.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who have been responsible for scripts for some of the biggest franchises, including "Star Trek," "Transformers" and "The Amazing Spider-Man," are on board to produce the movies. It's not clear how many book the studio is planning to turn into feature films.

Some of Rice's novels from the vampire series have seen their way to the big screen in the past. Warner Bros made "Interview with the Vampire" (based on the first book in the series) into a 1994 film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. The 2002 film "Queen of the Damned" also took inspiration from Rice's series.

"Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci..."

Je-sus. f*cking. Chrrreyest. Must these two *ssholes taint every other goddamn enterprising franchise with their grubby little hands? And between this and the Mummy/classic monster movie reboot, why is Universal all-the-sudden giving them the keys to its horror vault?

I detect c*cksucking. Lots of it.

What have you been up to mate?
Probably won't be up to respond but hope all is well. With not only you but everyone. Haven't been talking as much about our days as last month.

I actually liked Interview with the Vampire. I remember being floored by Tom Cruise's performace in that film. Ann Rice nearly pulled the rights to the book when she found out Tom Cruise had been cast as Lestat. Supposedly met him or something and all of a sudden she can't see anyone but Cruise being Lestat. If they want to make any of her other novels with Lestat into a film I could see this if they recast Cruise as Lestat.

I mean, Anne Rice was writing about faggoty vampires before it was fashionable. I remember scenes where I thought 2 male vamps were about to actually kiss on screen...and still not one of the f*ckers sparkled in the sunlight....cause that would be gaayy

Anne Rice is to vampire novels what laxatives are to weight control.
