"Con Air" Director Wants to Set Sequel in Space

"Con Air" Director Wants to Set Sequel in SpaceSubmit Comment
After grossing $223 million worldwide, there have been several attempts to make a sequel to Nicolas Cage's "Con Air" action film. And according to direct Simon West, there are many ways of making that happen, including setting the story in space.

"There are always rumors about a 'Con Air 2.' I would do it if it was completely turned on its head," he explained. "'Con Air' in space, for example a studio version where they're all robots or the convicts are reanimated as super-convicts, or where the good guys are bad guys and the bad guys are good guys. Something shocking. If it was clever writing it could work."

It's not clear if West has actually pitched the project to the studio or how realistic all of this is. But back in 2011, West revealed that he planning to speak to Cage about the project.

"I'd like to do 'Con Air 2'," he said. "It's a matter of getting everybody together. There's so many people involved and it's about getting everybody to agree. But I'm going to bring it up to Nic [Cage]. If the two of us want to do it, we'll go after the others."

Sending inmates into space is a stupid idea, just ask Nasa but for sure Nic will sign anything these days.

Didn't Guy Pearce cover this in Lockout?

And that was a pile of sh*t; watchable only for Pearce.

Cameron Poe Kills.....In Space!

Perfect place to send a stupid-assed sequel no one f*cking wanted. Right up there with Jason Vorhees and Machete and that f*cking Leprechaun.

In Space No One Can Hear you Sucking.

"If it was clever writing it could work."

West went on to add, "I'm also a goddamn idiot."

I hope Steve Buscemi's character made millions at the craps table there in Vegas where we left him and he became a modern day Elon Musk. He could own the space ship they're on and Nic Cage could at some point look right into the camera and say, "put the space bunnaayy down."

On second thought, f*ck all of that. That sounds retarded.

^^Methinks you're confusing Buscemi's character in Armageddon with his character in Con Air.

In the former he was a certifiable genius capable of possibly becoming his own Elon Musk.

In Con Air he was a certifiable nutjob capable of possibly becoming his own Ed Gein.

Wrong movie, dude.

^^^^wow tan. Just wow. Im shocked, yet also not surprised at the same time.

This meet up with people from here you keep speaking of? We all agreed, it will just be us kidnapping you (literally kid) and locking you in a hotel room and forcing you to watch a list of 100 movies of our choice that you have not seen while wasting all your time watching planes, xfiles, paul blart: mall cop, 3 nijas series, twilight, jungle 2 jungle and TMNT 3 (and only the 3rd from the 90's).

And if you fall asleep, zone out, or try to call for help a giant man of some minority and a midget helper of his choosing will be waiting to take you onto the "highway to the danger zone"

Ninjas*

And remember tan, when the cops come it was all your fault not ours. You MADE us do it, because of your laziness in regards to movie history

Simon West should be shot into space sans spacesuit... It's for science.

@vincere

I would not kidnap anyone, i'd just bring a sh*t-ton of liquor whilst hilarity ensues.
