"Watchmen" Creator Alan Moore Asks Fans to Boycott "Hercules" Film

"Watchmen" Creator Alan Moore Asks Fans to Boycott "Hercules" FilmSubmit Comment
Legendary comic book writer and "Watchmen" creator Alan Moore hates Hollywood and despises each time a movie studio tries to turn his work into a film. Now he's complaining about Dwayne Johnson's "Hercules," which is based on the comic book "Hercules: The Thracian Wars," written by his friend Steve Moore (no relation), who passed away in March.

Alan explained that Steve had a contract with Radical Comics, which sold the film rights to the "Hercules" comic to MGM. Steve was never contacted about this and never received a payment. Steve reached out to Radical, remembering from his contract that he is owed $15,000 if his work is ever sold to a film studio.

"When I went down to see him a couple of week later, I said, 'So, did you get any response from Radical about your e-mail?' He said, 'No, I didn't. But I went away and dug out the contract, and it turns out that they don't have to consult me and they don't have to pay me the $15,000. That must have been in some earlier version of the contract as opposed to the one that I signed. So, I'm not getting anything out of this.'"

Moore added: "The only thing I am glad of is that apparently they're not putting my name on it. Because it sounds like it's going to be idiotic sh*t."

Before Steve's death, MGM avoided using his name to promote the movie. But after he died, the media started mentioning "Hercules" when writing about Steve's passing. MGM apparently took advantage of this by putting Steve's name in the film's credits, something Steve felt strongly against.

So now, Alan is begging fans to punish MGM by not seeing "Hercules" in theaters. "I suggest that people simply look at the publicity for this film before and after Steve Moore's death," he said. "I would also ask that anybody out there who gives a damn about Steve Moore or his legacy not go to see this wretched film. It is the last thing that Steve would've wanted."

MGM commented on the situation, stating: "MGM licensed the feature film rights from Radical Comics and fulfilled all contractual obligations. Steve Moore was a legend within the comics industry, whose work we greatly admire."

He's really wasting his time since no one is going watch it anyway.

Does Alan Moore hate Hollywood, or just the film medium altogether? Not everyone wants to read a story in "graphic novels"..i.e. comic books for grown men. So f*ckoff Moore, you holier than thou *sshole.

*I do agree that HERCULES will be pure sh*t
