Anyone else notice that the story they chose out of his entire life has him, a black man, stealing something? Lol

Miles Davis was an incredible musician and composer. I hope this film does justice to him.

In a Silent Way is an amazing album and one of the finest examples of Jazz Fusion.

I do think that Davis is an extremely different figure than say Ray Charles. Ray Charles is the Elton John of black pianists. His fame was very widespread whereas Davis was a superior composer but his style and appreciation is more esoteric comparatively.

The recent trend in biopics is to show conflicted musicians (often drug addicts) as "good" people, they are treated more as tributes to theses artists. However, that is pointless here. Unlike Walk the Line or Ray many people won't know who Miles Davis was or why he matters.

Categorically the music he made is less popular than Rock, country, etc. So, I wonder who the audience is for this movie ...

@BigRedCat for those who appreciate culture. I actually have on VHS miles Davis's last concert. Musicianship has gone down the tube. Its all e.d.m now. Yet musicians such as miles, Coltrane, led belly, Tom waits and so will only live on and eventually inspire others.

I've got high hopes for this. Pun intended.

George and Kathleen Lutz said the same thing.

Haha, a little Amityville Horror reference, I thought about that as I typed it.

I'm sure the jazz fans of America will be thrilled by this news. The other 98 percent of us will continue to not give a f*ck. I hope they don't gloss over the fact that heroin is bad, mmmkay.

If they have the cocaine scenes in Mile's house, Don's sure got the bigass nostrils to do the job.
