Guillermo Del Toro Discusses "Pacific Rim" SequelSubmit Comment
About two weeks ago, it was announced that Universal Pictures scheduled "Pacific Rim 2" to hit theaters on April 7th, 2017 and will once again be directed by Guillermo Del Toro. In a new interview, Del Toro spoke about what fans can expect.

He said: "[Screenwriter Zak Penn] and I really went in, we started with [screenwriter Travis Beacham] about a year and a half ago, kicking ideas back and forth. And, admittedly, I said to Zak, let's keep kicking ideas till we find one that really, really turns the first movie on its ear."

"It was hard to create a world that did not come from a comic book, that had its own mythology, so we had to sacrifice many aspects to be able to cram everything in the first movie. Namely, for example 'the Drift,' which was an interesting concept. [Then there was] this portal that ripped a hole into the fabric of our universe. What were the tools they were using? And we came up with a really, really interesting idea. I don't want to spoil it, but I think at the end of the second movie, people will find out that the two movies stand on their own. They're very different from each other, although hopefully bringing the same joyful giant spectacle."

Nice to see Guillermo del Toro has a second talent: ventriloquism .... He apparently can talk out his ass.

Terrible acting, horrible screenplay, and yet still one of the more entertaining films of the last decade imo. I'm down for a sequel that promises more than the first. Getting rid of the actors from the first film should be step #1 in the improvement. Step 2 more daytime action.

They should do one for the other big ocean. Call it Atlantic Spread. Have the monsters come through cracks in the seafloor spreading.

Anyway.

Del Toro is doing a sequel on a average flick noone is asking for but he 's doing squat on the Hellboy 3 front?!!

His stock is going down in my book...

"its really hard to create a world that didn't come from a comic book".

okay dumbass, what would you call the films, sequels and franchises that Hollywood released before comic book films became a trend

Also Del Toro spreads himself thinner than butter watered down, with as many projects he has at the moment. What happened to his hulk tv show, Frankenstein or mouth of madness with cruise?
