Today we have the trailer for the upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic "Jimi: All is By My Side," starring Andre Benjamin as Hendrix. Check it out below.
The story covers a year in Hendrix's life from 1966-67 as an unknown backup guitarist playing New York's Cheetah Club to making his mark in London's music scene up until his Monterey Pop triumph. The film presents an intimate portrait of the sensitive young musician on the verge of becoming a rock legend.
"Jimi: All is By My Side" is written and directed by John Ridley, and co-stars Imogen Poots, Hayley Atwell, Burn Gorman and Ruth Negga. It's set to hit theaters on September 26th.
The beginning?! So it won't have his famous music?!
Why?!! Why not catching him at the pinnacle of his career with flashbacks of his beginnings?!! Where he got his iinspirations for his music, Woodstock, the feel of the sixties era that had the best movement in music that has yet to be matched. See the reason why for his drug overdose...
He should at least have the same epic feel of The Doors biopic with Val Kilmer (Kilmer's best role). Hendrix at least deserves that much.
If they're not gonna spring for the famous songs, which looks like it, then they really shouldn't bring this out, IMO. I really was expecting more from this movie.
As for Andre Benjamin, he has the perfect look & being a musician iwill only help the project, but don't know if he jas enough acting talent to pull this off.
