Confirmed: Jason Momoa is Aquaman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"Submit Comment
Jason Momoa is a really bizarre person. He's been denying being in talks to play Aquaman in "Justice League" for a while. But not just denying, but insulting the people who have been reporting the casting decision.

Just a few days ago, Hitfix learned that Momoa actually signed a deal to play the superhero, to which the actor replied with an Instagram photo of himself holding a trident and having his middle finger out. So it's clear that Momoa finds it incredibly offensive that someone would even suggest that he should play Aquaman.

The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Momoa will indeed be Aquaman in "Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice" and in "Justice League." It turns out that he was in talks since December, but is now officially on board.

@bando

Knowing what Alex's "Cookies" gonna look like. I think I have to decline. Thank you very much :) Anyway, Momoa's Aquaman probably will look something like this:

Yeah, I think it was pretty much confirmed days ago, Alex, not that anyone cares or thinks this is a good idea, since Dawn of Justice is shaping up to have one of the most laughable casts in modern cinematic history.

If he looked like that it be passable.

@everyone
So as we watch the final fall of DC films I would like to say it has been an honor trashing these pathetic attempts at competing with Marvel. Can't wait till Dawn of Justice begins the dawn of death of DC.

"to which the actor replied with an Instagram photo of himself holding a trident"

Are you sure that was a trident and not three dude's d*cks in a glory hole orgy scene?

Not like YOU would know the difference.

"and having his middle finger out."

Awww, such a classy American actor. And people wonder why we have to import cinematic grace and dignity from Great Britain and Ireland.

"So it's clear that Momoa finds it incredibly offensive that someone would even suggest that he should play Aquaman."

Pffft. I find it offensive they're making a JLA movie that isn't a JLA movie with Cardboard Man, Olive Oyll, Butt Chin, Nerd Boy and now one of the Kro-Mags from Sliders.

Now THAT's offensive.

But hey, rush the f*ck out of it, DC. Not like Marvel isn't already ten decent movies ahead of you anyway.
minkowski writes:

@Sleuth: Agreed, but with one caveat: DC's animated two-part The Dark Knight Returns remains, for me at least, the best animated comic book movie(s) I've ever seen, if for other reason than its impeccable pacing, excellent music, the quality voice-acting (Joker was a bit high though) and the fact DC did the near-impossible: churning Miller's work into a comprehensive, comprehensible cinematic adaptation.

Beyond that and their dubious live-action Nolan trilogy, they've totally failed to impress me and millions of others in this age of comic book movie box office supremacy.

What?
Too much p*ssy getting thrown at you without having to earn it?

@mink
The Dark Knight Returns was great. It captured the graphic novel great but yeah Joker's voice was little high. They should have built off of Nolan's trilogy. Had the ending introduce symbols of hope popping up all over the world. Would have made Dark Knight Rises a great finale while also building off the themes. Course then we would have gotten Man of Steel anyway and...yeah that happened. LOL

@Mink
A sliders reference? Are you in your thirties?
minkowski writes:
on June 17th, 2014 at 12:57:46 AM

@Sleuth: I prefer how DC did it, as a direct and unadulterated adaptation of Miller's seminal work.

Building off of Nolan's trilogy would have corrupted both imo, and compromised both artists' vision.

So at least DC did that right, at least they let Nolan do his thing the way he wanted, closing out his trilogy as he saw fit, and at least DC gave Miller's work the treatment it had rightfully earned.

but that's it. Everything else has been a near-total clusterf*ck. Even their animated films are starting to suck thanks to 'The New 52' and some truly godawful voice casting decisions that make Joker's voice in TDKR look like James Earl Jones' Darth Vader.
minkowski writes:
on June 17th, 2014 at 12:59:40 AM

@Boosh: maybe, maybe not, but I shouldn't have to be since I just watched the first two seasons again recently.

God, did they really jump the shark with the Kro-Mags or what? And killing off Arturo really sunk that show. Who was left at the end? The black guy? Remmy? lol.

Everyone else left but Remmy still had to eat.
Sleuth1989 writes:
on June 17th, 2014 at 1:04:23 AM

@mink
No Nolan's way was right but given that they were planning Man of Steel the same time Dark Knight Rises was filming that would have been the lesser of two evils for me because Man of Steel ripped off the entire flashback origin concept that Batman Begins pulled. It was repetitive and lacked any life.
minkowski writes:
on June 17th, 2014 at 1:14:41 AM

@Sleuth: DC's biggest mistake with Nolan's trilogy was not bridging the damned thing into a larger CU. They could have, though. They could have added a plug in The Dark Knight Rises, but they chose to let Nolan do his auteur thing, which helped Nolan but hurt DC.

They should have kept Batman open (back off Alex) and segued into Superman ever so easily and slowly (back off Dustin).

Basically they should used The Dark Knight Rises as a pre-launch vehicle for Man of Steel and then given Nolan a room full of gold (think what the Spaniards demanded for the release of Atahualpa) to helm it.

A brunette Lois Lane...

An ethnic Wonderwoman...

A dark haired (or probably bad dyed) Aquaman...

A weasely Lex Luthor...

Boy, they're really sticking to the source material...

What 's next? An albino Martian Manhunter?!!

No wait, a black female Robin?!!

Or an Eagleman (with Eaglewoman) because noone knows what a Hawk looks like...

Wow...disappointment, all around...just up to the hilt in the WTF factor....

till i realized DC is going the big *not too* brown bulky look to overcompensate for Aquaman being the whipping boy of the superhero community

This could be percieved as a copout and lazy

This film is looking more and more like a monkey trying to f*ck a football. How can people this damn stupid run studios and be allowed to make such retarded decisions. Aren't there any adults in the room to point out having Aquaman in a live action film is the equivalent of going full retard? It's like someone is intentionally trying to bankrupt Warner Bros.

@mink

Sliders had a very interesting and turmoil filled production. First 2 seasons are outstanding. From what I remember davies openly critisized the writing on the show and the show runner itself. He basically began ti think the show was beneath him, which it was by the time he left.

The shows creator was more interested in exploring society themes a la star trek. Mostly using alternate history. By season 3 the showed changed showrunners and began to have vilan of the week or dinosaurs in it.

They started to make the show reflect the blockbuster movies of the time and it hurt the show alot. And after davies insulted a exec at a party his fate was set. Eventually the mam he insulted became head of the studio and fired him midseason, rather abruptly too.

Then the woman who played wade had her contract up for renewal and she asked for her fair share as the other actors got. The studio ended up saying they only needed one girl in the shows dynamic and they had just brought on wuher as a regular and they viewed her as a bigger draw for men. So she left the show.

Then jerry got his brother on the show and things started to go even more downhill. After that season the o'connells wanted a raise and wanted producer credit. Studio balked and negotiations stalled. When the series lead was unsure of coming back the network decided not to renew.

By the time syfy (scifi channel) picked it up it was too late to get jerry back. So they decided to hire stunt doubles for season 5 premiere and made the brothers meld into one in the vortex and killed the show right there.

That black chick in season 5 was decent, she would go on to star in another sci fi channel show I like called eureka as well. And the did end up bringing back wade in season 5 as a pseudo guest spot, but they ended up not agreeing on her fee size so it ended up being voice over only.

Remmy was still entertaining to the end though but he just wasnt good enough to offset the rest. The show started to die when JRD left, and officially flatlined when jerry left in my book
vincere01 writes:
on June 17th, 2014 at 2:55:11 PM

^^^ interesting side note

JRD ended up getting out of his contract at the perfect time too, if he had stayed on for the shows entire run he would not have been available to play gimli in LOTR.

so knowing that im not mad he left the show

Now, the previous day he posted a normal picture holding it...

You're just a bizarre person Alex. I'd say try being better but we all know you're just lazy.
