"Star Wars: Episode VII" Casts "12 Years a Slave" Star Lupita Nyong'o

"Star Wars: Episode VII" Casts "12 Years a Slave" Star Lupita NyongSubmit Comment
"12 Years a Slave" actress Lupita Nyong'o has been rumored to be in talks for "Star Wars: Episode VII" for many months. In fact, it was surprising that she wasn't on board when the first cast was announced.

Apparently the rumors were true, because Lucastfilm has now announced that Nyong'o has officially been signed. The studio added that Gwendonline Christie ("Game of Thrones") has also joined the cast.

"I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of 'Episode VII,'" said Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy. "It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape."

The two actresses are joining John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" is set to hit theaters on December 18th, 2015.

Crambo

have you seen the new star treks?

Abrams is perfect for Star Wars. I was never a Star Trek fan growing up but he made those new Star Trek movies extremely entertaining and it had to do with the fact that they felt more like Star Wars movies then Star Trek. Making the Star Trek movies was like Abrams summer camp to prepare him for Star Wars.

Abrams is going to knock this out of the park. I think Episodes 7,8 and 9 are going to be waaay better then how episodes 1,2 and 3 were.

I already love what he has been doing so far. He isn't using digital cameras, he is using on 35mm film and also the fact that he is building more set pieces. It is going to feel a lot more like the originals but with all the modern effects. He knows what he is doing.

If the trailer doesn't say "Starring Oscar Winner Lupita Nyong'o" I'm gonna punch someone.

They should have hired the back flat-top chick from Non-Stop. At least then I could pronounce and spell her name, unlike here.

They should have gotten the Precious black girl instead.

^^Gabourey Sidibe would have been an awesome Jedi.

She's a Sith Lord right?

She's black, gotta be evil.

If they think this is going to make up for Jar Jar Binks, they are f*cking sorely mistaken.
