Paul Walker's Death Cost "Fast and Furious 7" an Extra $50 Million

We've already seen Paul Walker's brothers stepping in for Paul on the set of "Fast and Furious 7." It turns out that it's not that simple. There's a lot of work going on in the background to bring Paul's character to the big screen. So much work, that it's adding up to $50 million.

Before Paul passed away, "Fast and Furious 7" had a budget of $200 million. But when you add the cost of keeping all the actors for an extra month and hiring Weta effects company to add Paul's face to the body's of his brothers, the budget quickly ballooned to $250 million.

Universal Pictures doesn't have to pay the extra $50 million. That amount will be paid by the film's insurance company, which has previously paid as much as $250,000 per day for delays on big budget movies. The $50 million, however, is a record-breaking insurance claim.

The idea has been not to alter the script. To accomplish this, director James Wan has been going through unused footage of Paul from older "Fast and Furious" installments while also using three extra cameras that Weta requires to properly capture Paul's stand-ins.

I don't understand, why go through all that trouble for a ridiculous movie like this? It's on number SEVEN already. This franchise jumped the shark 5 movies ago.

Good one, Paul "Selfish Manchild *sshole" Walker. Way to make other people heavily pay for your inability to grow the f*ck up.

@Boogiel: more like seven movies ago with the first when the FBI sent in some Aryan figurehead to reverse Point Break the bald alien from Prometheus by drag-racing Hot Wheels through Orange County.

Actually boogiel I thought the last 3 were a lot better than the first 3. The timeline events taking place prior to Tokyo Drift turned out to be a great idea.

Hell, they could've just got Ryan Dunn and it would've cost a car, minor roadwork, and a can of beer.

IF he were still alive, that is.

Paul Walker: Great guy. Lousy actor, post rigor mortis.

They could save about $50 just splicing scenes that fell on the cutting room floor from "Brick Mansions".
