"Gravity" Director in Talks for "Harry Potter" Spin-Off

"Gravity" Director in Talks for "Harry Potter" Spin-OffSubmit Comment
Warner Bros recently set the "Harry Potter" spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" to hit theaters on November 18th, 2016. And now comes word that "Gravity" helmer Alfonso Cuaron is in talks to direct.

Cuaron previously directed "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and has been rumored to take on the spin-off ever since the film was announced. Cuaron himself has expressed interest in returning to a world written by JK Rowling, who actually wrote the script for "Fantastic Beasts."

The new film will serve as a first installment of a trilogy and focuses on the adventures of fictituous author Newt Scamander, seventy years before Harry Potter's story begins.

No, not really, f*ck Harry Potter, enough of that stupid sh*te!

@McQueen
Better than Twilight, Divergent, And Hunger Games all rolled in one at least. LOL Oh and I believe the next to join this roster is the "Fallen" series if I am correct.

@Crambo
And I'd say most of that credit goes to Gary Oldman, even with his somewhat limited screen time. That man can carry just about any film by himself though, as far as I'm concerned. I sat through to joke that was the new RoboCop just for him and Michael Keaton.

Also, of course it's a trilogy. What ISN'T a f*cking trilogy these days? Someone in Hollywood must have decided that three is the magic number, and spread the word to make sure every new movie gets two completely pointless sequels. (Or to just painfully drag out one movie's worth of story into three. That way we can buy three times as many tickets and DVDs. How thoughtful.)

Who wants to take bets on how long it takes for this spin-off to get a spin-off? I bet it'll be another trilogy...

@Sleuth
I'd honestly rather watch another Hunger Games than see them scrape the bottom of the Harry Potter barrel.

@Attos
Well that's heartbreaking to hear. LOL Honestly the reason I am looking forward to this is it's not a direct prequel. This means possible unexpected moments. Harry Potter has more emotion than the other YA stories that followed and the mythology is expansive which means more possibilities.

I'd like to see a Harry Potter movie produced and directed by del Toro, not the guy who makes movies for IMAX only.

@mink
You know it's funny, knowing that Del toro had a hand in pre-production of the Hobbit you can see his influnces in those films. The slight comedic tone, the character designs, and so on. He would have done a fine Harry Potter film no doubt. Magic and lore with crazy creatures. That a Del Toro special.

I rather he go back to making films Y Tu Mama Tambien. Or least feature more 40 year old naked Spanish females.
