Coen Brothers to Next Direct "Hail Caesar"Submit Comment
The Coen brothers (No Country For Old Men, Inside Llewyn Davis) have signed on to direct "Hail Caesar," a film that has been in the works for more than a decade and recently had George Clooney attached to star.

At this point, details are very vague, but the project, set in the 1950s, focuses on a man named Eddie Mannix, whose job was to make sure Hollywood stars don't hurt their reputations through drugs, affairs and other bad behavior.

People like Mannix were usually private investigators hired by the studios and were told to keep actors clean by any means necessary. Some of the methods included illegal wiretapping and dealing with witnesses with threats and pay-offs.

Or cast his friend Brad Pitt he should be better than he was in Killing Them Softly.

Project is interesting though.

I haven't seen a Cohen's movie since Burn After Reading.

This looks almost interesting.

Expendables spin-off?

I haven't seen a Coen Brothers movie since Burn After Reading either, and there's a damned good reason for that...

burn after reading is one of their worst films while most of them are excellent so you are missing out if you veto them

Fargo was pretty good, but I failed to catch True Grit.

@mink
True Grit was damn good. Hailee Steinfeld did a pretty incredible job, especially for it to basically be her first real movie. Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges were as good one might already expect.

2 things.

1. Isn't that the name of the Terry Crews character in the Expendables series? Seeing how the other characters names included Lee Christmas, terrible title for a film.

2. So, it's the movie version for Ray Donovan?
