Edgar Ramirez Replaces Gerard Butler in "Point Break" RemakeSubmit Comment
Gerard Butler was the first actor to join the upcoming "Point Break" remake as Bodhi, the role played by Patrick Swayze in the original film. But after the rest of the cast was hired and a shooting was set to begin in June, Butler decided to drop out due to creative differences.

A search for his replacement started immediately. And now comes word that he'll be replaced by Edgar Ramirez (The Bourne Ultimatum, Zero Dark Thirty) and that the June start date is still in place.

The new movie will be directed by Ericson Core (Invincible) and will co-star Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah (played by Keanu Reeve in the original) and Ray Winstone (played by Gary Busey in the original). The script is written by Kurt Wimmer (Law Abiding Citizen).

^^

Hes not THAT bad man. He was pretty good in Zero and Bourne. In Zero, he was fairly accurate in his protrayal of a ground operative. I know a few and thier behavior is a lot like his. Weird and quiet and such. Butler would have been better I think but what can you do?

Watch CARLOS on Netflix to see how talented of an actor he can be.

Indeed, Ramirez was excellent in Carlos.

Discount Butler.

I saw him in domino and I wanted to cry.his accent kills me
And even though he has been on Carlos and those movies.he is not even close as charismatic as butler.this will bomb hard.

I liked butler in 300.law abiding citizen(except for the end).the leprechaun in movie 43.and was passable in Olympus has fallen.

Anyways sh*tty replacement and this guy is more known as a supporting actor 💩🔥💩💣💣💣

You really don't like him Bando...

Butler was wrong. Dude can barely talk right. He was fine in 300 because he yelled the entire time, but the role of Bodhi demands an actor with a clean command of English since he's an enlightened thief. Plus, the only reason they wanted Butler was a) he comes cheap and b) he works out so he'd look good in surf shots.

Might have been a good role for Walker if he had lived, and would have been cool to see him play the bad guy, if his meager talents could accomplish such.

Point Break? More like Pointless Remake.

Make something new for a change.

This guy was absolutely terrible in Wrath of the Titans. Worse than Worthington....by a mile!!! So glad this happened. Now it's guaranteed to fail.

He's a SOLID actor with the right director (Carlos, Bourne) but Vantage Point, Domino and Wrath of the Titans are some of the worst movies. EVER.

Vantage Point is especially horrible, I agree...
