"Fantastic Four" Won't Exist in Same Universe as "X-Men"

Posted: May 14th, 2014 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Fantastic Four" WonSubmit Comment
Just like Christopher Nolan wasn't able to imagine his Batman existing in the same universe as Superman, writer Simon Kinberg can't imagine the superheroes from his "Fantastic Four" reboot existing in the same universe as the X-Men.

"For [Fantastic Four characters] to live in a world where mutants are prevalent is kind of complicated," he explained. "Because you're like, 'Oh, you're just a mutant. What's so fantastic about you?' No, they live in discrete universes."

Kinberg went on to say that he's surprised that Sony rebooted "Spider-Man" less than ten years since Sam Raimi's beloved films. Even though 20th Century Fox is doing the same thing with "Fantastic Four," he believes there's a big difference.

"The movie we're making differs than those other films," she said. "Where I think superhero movies define themselves is not in plot and character, but in tone, and the tone of our 'Fantastic Four' movie is so different than those other films, and I actually think, more importantly, different from other superhero movies."

Lol the tone of tasm compared to the original was different, or attempted to be. The first was more light hearted and comic book style, while the new tried to be more dark and grounded. Those are pretty much the two styles a comic book film can do, so I wonder wtf this dude's jiving about.

Further proof that a deal needs to be made where all this sh*t can go back to Marvel studios for good.

If only it didn't exist in this universe.

I guess you could say that, while they are technically mutants, what makes them so "fantastic" is that they were not born as mutants. Whereas most of the characters in the X-Men universe were all born with their abilities. It is a little fantastic to be hit with radiation and develop powers rather than die in agony. Logic aside, it's impressive.

That's just stupid because most of the so-called Marvel "mutants" post-date the Fantastic Four, not pre-date, and in fact Stan Lee didn't start commonly using the word mutant till during and after Fantastic Four, so why would he call them "fantastic" to differentiate them from all the various existing Marvel mutants that didn't exist prior to 1961?

You're just babbling to sound intelligent without doing any of the actual work.

Fraud.

"Where I think superhero movies define themselves is not in plot and character"

That explains why Kinberg is such a f*cking horrible writer.
