New Trailer for Tom Cruise's "Edge of Tomorrow" Sci-Fi Thriller

New Trailer for Tom CruiseSubmit Comment
Warner Bros unveiled a third trailer for Tom Cruise's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow," which co-stars Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton. Check it out below.

The movie is set in the near future, in which the world's armies are forced to unite to battle an alien race that landed on Earth, destroying cities and killing millions. Cruise plays Lt. Col. Bill Cage, an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is demoted and then thrown into battle. Within minutes, he is killed. But he awakens back at the beginning of the same day and is forced to fight and die again -- and again, like a sci-fi version of "Groundhog Day."

The new movie is directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) and is set to hit theaters on June 6th.

Saw this earlier, not a bad trailer as a new one.

The suits look similar to the ones in the new call of duty game that is coming out.

Warner Bros unveiled a third trailer for Scientologist and maniacal crazy man Tom Cruise's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow," which co-stars Emily Blunt and Bill "Why the f*ck am I here ? This ain't Aliens!" Paxton. Check it out below.

The movie is set in the near future, in which the world's armies are forced to unite to battle an alien race that landed on Earth (i.e. Independence Day, only without having to decypher an Apple computer), destroying cities and killing millions (i.e. Man of Steel).

Cruise plays Lt. Col. Bill Cage (with lifts, so he LOOKS taller), an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is demoted and then thrown into battle (i.e. military intelligence). Within minutes, he is killed (Yeah!). But he awakens back at the beginning of the same day and is forced to fight and die again -- and again, like a sci-fi version of "Groundhog Day. (* Only less funny and more monotonous ... like Cruise's version of "Hanc*ck")"

The new movie is directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) (Who ?) and is set to hit theaters (like a ticking timebomb) on June 6th.

I never really like to quote him, but Denis Leary said it best on No Cure for Cancer: "This is going to suck!"

Aliens destroying cities, man in robo-suit saves us all.

Just put The Avengers on a loop and you've seen this one already.

Not for a second do I buy Emily blunt as any kind of badass future mech-warrior type. Her casting feels so contrived.

Watch that first step... it's a doozy!

This looks wires every time I see the trailer

Kinda wish I didn't see that. I was already sold on the movie but now I feel like I've almost seen it all.

This really does look like one badass flick though. Just hope it finds ground at the BO. Not just to promote my boy Tom, but to promote these kinds of Sci Fi action movies. There aren't any cartoonish monsters, superpowers, or guys in tights saving the world. This looks more visceral, serious, and realistic at least from and action point of view. More Aliens than Avatar if you know what I mean.

There's nothing realistic about aliens coming to earth to destroy humans. Nothing.

"Not just to promote my boy Tom"

lol. Tom wouldn't piss on you, or me, if either of us were on fire.

Your boy. lol. Like he knows or cares that you're even alive.

Mink, I said more realistic "from an action point of view" just because I knew you would say something about aliens being unrealistic. That's also why I used "visceral", meaning not really intellectual material but something the viewer could still feel. Fantasy action films with superheroes and giant cartoonish monsters are frankly hard to connect with because they are so farfetched from reality. Alien invasions are something I can wrap my mind around a little more than a guy who breaks all the laws of physics because of radiation from the Sun. Same goes for the concept of soldiers using enhanced armored suits to fight wars of the future.

In the long run, the action and the cinematography reminds more of films like The Thing, Predator, Aliens, and Minority Report. It just freshed out more than like an Avatar, Cowboys and Aliens, Independence Day, or all Marvel films outside of Captain America.
