"Star Trek" Writer Roberto Orci May Direct "Star Trek 3"

"Star Trek" Writer Roberto Orci May Direct "Star Trek 3"Submit Comment
Now that JJ Abrams abandoned "Star Trek" for "Star Wars," Paramount Pictures is searching for a new director to helm "Star Trek 3." While there are lots of directors being considered, there's one person who has the backing of almost everyone involved.

That person is Roberto Orci, who has been involved as a writer and producer of the "Star Trek" films, as well as "Transformers" and "The Amazing Spider-Man." Unfortunately, Orci has never directed a movie before, which makes the studio very nervous.

Working with new directors hasn't worked out for Paramount in the past. "Snow White and the Huntsman" was a hit, but "Transcendence," "John Carter" and "47 Ronin" were all failures.

But at this point, Orci is the frontrunner and has the support of not only Abrams, but also Skydance Productions, which is Paramount's financing partner. Stay tuned.

So the guy who basically told every Star Trek fan to go f*ck themselves might direct huh? Well there's no justice in the world. Course I figured that out when he was allowed to tell them all he can mess with their beloved series as much as he wants but doesn't get fired. Prick beyond measures!

Orci is the quintessential stereotypical Hollywood douche.

Hopefully whoever gets the job is not a fan of lens flare and drumming on the camera- while claiming it's an "art" like a jackass. I swear, the special features for the first Star Trek in this series was nothing but the crew talking about how amazing Abrams is, and how everything he does is genius. I wonder if they can even smell properly anymore with that much sh*t crammed into their noses.

@Crambo
I would pay so much money to see that movie.
So much.

If giving him the directing gig means he won't be writing it, then please...LET HIM DIRECT IT!

Hey alex, Andrew Stanton had already directed A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo and Wall-E prior to directing John Carter.

It was the first live-action film that he directed. Not his first one ever. He does not belong in this group of other actual first-time directors you mentioned.

@Deaft0ne
Looks like I was wrong, CBS cancelled six shows, not five. I guess I was wrong about them being up there on the list, too. But still, almost tied with Fox, and more than CW (which is sad).

Sigh. I'm actually going miss Almost Human, but only a little. Hahaha, The X-Factor was cancelled? Good. Same goes for Dracula.

Just when I thought Star Trek had a chance since Abrams is no longer on board....

"So the guy who basically told every Star Trek fan to go f*ck themselves might direct huh?"

He said the same thing, tacitly, to Transformers fans, so there's that, too.

Also alex, none of the films mentioned were released by Paramount. Transcendence was distributed by Warner Bros. Snow White and the Huntsman and 47 Ronin were Universal releases, and John Carter was Disney.

Alex meant "studios", obviously.

@Attos

Yeah I wish Almost Human was given a season 2. I liked the show for being an homage to Blade Runner in a lot of ways.

No sh*t. I hope they hid the silverware, because this f*cker will steal it.

@Deaft0ne
Yeah, for it to be just another bromance buddy-cop show, it was at least somewhat decent, and the effects weren't too shabby either. Plus I like Karl Urban. His particular brand of cheese is very entertaining to me.
Guess we won't even really get to meet the antagonist group they kept referring to. Syndicate, or whatever.
