Disney Says at Least Three "Star Wars" Spin-Offs in the Works, "Episode VII" Working Title Revealed

Disney Says at Least Three "Star Wars" Spin-Offs in the Works, "Episode VII" Working Title RevealedSubmit Comment
Disney previously revealed that it's working not only on a new "Star Wars" trilogy, but also two spin-offs that will be released in 2016 and 2018, between installments of the trilogy.

But now, during Disney's quarterly earning stockholders call, CEO Bob Iger said that there are actually "at least three" spin-offs in development. Since the plan is to create "origin story films," it has been believed that the first two will focus on Han Solo and Boba Fett. The third one is rumored to revolve around Yoda.

Meanwhile, AICN has heard from its "Star Wars" source that the working title of the new film is "The Ancient Fear," which refers to the villain played by Max Von Sydow.

Disney is teaming with Lionsgate for a new Power Rangers movie, post that.

Spin-off ideas are lame and (at least from a storytelling point) completely unnecessary. The alleged title for Episode VII, however, is fine; well enough in-step with those of the previous films.

Edit: that is, the spin-off ideas in question.

Well, supposedly Kathleen Kennedy and others at Lucasfilm and Disney had a meeting to discuss the fact that there having a tough time figuring out how to do a Boba Fett film. The problem: how to write an origin film about a character who is perceived as a ruthless villian in the previous films.

I say give it to Tarantino and make a kick-ass, R-rated Fett film. That will never happen, but it'd be cool as f*ck.

Old news by induction. Disney said they were going to make a SW film every year or so, and since they can't and wouldn't make a mainstream SW film annually, they then must make at least a few "character" or spin-off films in the relatively near term.

News for people who cannot think.

Well, since Carrie Fisher and Mark Hammil converted over time into human versions of Jabba the Hutt, it makes sense that they want to start with Uncle Grumpy and Boba Fett. But they are going to have to do a damn good bit of effort to help us forget the Lil' Boba origin, which was as equal to a considerable mound of sh*t as Jar Jar Stinks.

Hope they pass out Jedi doobies and munchies out to all the Star Wars fanboys who watch these next three movies with baited breath ... otherwise, one of them will take their Toys-R-Us lightsabre and try to hold a movie usher hostage.

They will obviously recast Han Solo for an origin film.

I don't blame them. They gotta get their 4 billion purchase (plus profits) back.

I'd like to see some films made right after episode 3 focused more on Vader and the Empire leading up to episode 4.
