"Spring Breakers" Sequel Coming, Director, Writer and Plot Revealed

"Spring Breakers" Sequel Coming, Director, Writer and Plot RevealedSubmit Comment
One of the strangest films of last year has to be "Spring Breakers," starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine. The movie wasn't big on plot. Instead, it was filled with wacky dialogue and music video-style elements.

"Spring Breakers" went on to gross $31.7 million worldwide on a budget of $5 million. Even though it's not considered a massive hit, Wild Bunch production company has now announced that it's developing a sequel.

Director/writer Harmony Korine is not returning. He'll be replaced by helmer Jonas Akerlund (Spun, Horsemen, Beyonce's "Telephone" music video), who'll direct from a script by Irvine Welsh, the author of "Trainspotting."

The plot has also been revealed. Instead of fighting drug dealers, the characters will go to war with an extreme militant Christian sect that attempts to convert them. Some of the cast will reprise their roles, but it sounds like the main cast will not return. "It's not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original," said Wild Bunch.

"One of the strangest films of last year?"

More like a f*cked up film and a total waste of time with a non-story whatsoever at the exception for James Franco where proved that he can suck a d*ck! One of the worst film of 2013.

Meh, not needed at all but proceed on milking the cow.

I started to watch it and turned it off. Not even bikini clad women could save this one for me.

Terrible film. The ending was f*cking retarded.

What tanman said. Terrible film. Tried to be uber-arthouse avant-gard nihilism with bikini babes, but it had virtually no story whatsoever. Film merely meandered from one shot to the next with barely a hint of connective tissue while Franco ground his gleaming gums and the garishly-garbed gals giddily grinned.

You know James Franco can't wait to be asked to do the sequel, so he can do Instagram crotch shots as teaser posters for the film.

Hey, since the first had James and he MIGHT be in the sequel, are they going to ask junior high girls to co-star this time ? Or would that be too old for James ?

Just do another Pineapple express already Franco!

Lot of "extreme militant Christian sects" in the world, eh?

Guess it would take nuts to offend Islam instead.

I don't know. I kinda like the superviolent shoot out at the end with the Britney Spears song in the background.

Plus, James Franco gets a totally unexpected headshot, and that's cool on my book.
