Michael Fassbender to Re-Team with "Macbeth" Director for "Assassin's Creed"

Michael Fassbender to Re-Team with "Macbeth" Director for "AssassinSubmit Comment
We already know that Michael Fassbender will produce and star in a big screen adaptation of the popular "Assassin's Creed" video game. There have been times that it was doubtful that the film will happen. But now comes word that a director is ready to sign on.

That director is Justin Kurzel, who is currently working with Fassbender on "Macbeth," a new adaptation of a William Shakespeare play. Production on "Macbeth" recently wrapped, but apparently Fassbender enjoyed working with Kurzel enough to want to re-team with him.

Hopefully hiring Kurzel will give "Assassin's Creed" the boost that it needs. Unless something changed, the film is set to hit theaters on August 7th, 2015.

i like michael fassbender as he's a great new actor...but this film sounds completely unnecessary...why can't some of the OLDER generation games have films behind it? they have more original stories than some of the recycled garbage we see year to year

Why not make both of them the same movie. have Macbeth be the son of the ruler of an Assassin's guild, he dies due to some conspiracy, and Macbeth has to step in his place, slay all the conspirator's, and save the day or whatever.

I haven't read Macbeth in years, nor have I ever played an Assassin's Creed game.

Good actor...why the f*ck is he gonna spoil things by making this sh*t. It's gonna bomb

Good director. Snowtown Murders, amazing dark film. Watch it.

Garbage. Should have gone with a similar movie, one not constrained by the video game narrative. Maybe turn Fassbender into some medieval Transporter type.

Am I the only one who looks forward to this? I somehow doubt they'll stick strictly to the video game version of the story. It seems like they'll just use that setting to tell a similar story. And honestly, as far this movie being made, I can't really think of anyone I'd rather see give it a shot than Fassbender.
The fact that he likes it enough to pay for it seems like a promising fact as well. I doubt he'll allow it to be too warped from how he thinks it should be, and I don't really see that as a bad thing either.

go watch snowtown before you write this off ebing sh*t he is a good director and the bender has good strike rate

It's nice to know that Fassbender is wrapping up a piece of sh*t and starting up another piece of sh*t.

Hey, Fassbender .... ask Olyphant about Hitman or Paul about Need for Speed before you sign sh*t.

I love it when people say one movie will be good because the director didn't f*ck the dog on a previous project...
Patrick Bateman writes:

not saying it will be good just that it is worth checking it out because the helmer is capable of quality

Never played the game, never will see the movie. Perhaps originality will have its day again. Until then f*ck 97% of modern American film.

Lol, comparing it to Hitman or NFS is not fair. Those were both clearly just horsesh*t shoveled out as fast and as lazily as possible to cash in on the remaining six people who still play either of those games. Not to mention that both of them seemed to have cast literally the worst person they could find as their star.
Olyphant as Agent 47? Someone was smoking a brand new kind of crack when they made that decision. I remember literally laughing out loud when I heard that casting news.
Aaron Paul was just another case of someone in Hollywood saying "Hey, he was just in one popular thing, so if we put him in ours, it'll be popular too, right?" I guess they never considered that the only reason Breaking Bad wasn't TRULY great is because of people like Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn dragging it down every chance they had with their abysmal non-existent acting "skills".

This one, however, has a star who is a legitimately good actor (and who has proved that more than enough times now) who has more than just his name invested in how the film turns out. I'm not even saying it's a guaranteed hit, but it is ABSOLUTELY worth seeing before you make your judgement call. Whereas things like Hitman and NFS should have never seen a dime of your money or a second of your time in the first place.
