"Friday the 13th" to Become a TV Series

"Friday the 13th" to Become a TV SeriesSubmit Comment
It was recently reported that "V/H/S" helmer David Bruckner is in talks to direct the new "Friday the 13th" reboot. And now comes word that the film franchise is also heading back to television for a new hour-long series.

"Friday the 13th" was already a TV series in the 80s, but had very little to do with the films. The new version will follow Jason Vorhees and will place the killer in multiple time periods. Other characters will be residents of Crystal Lake, who are forced to confront the return of Jason, as new secrets about his family are revealed.

Bill Basso (Terminator) and Jordu Schell (Avatar) have been hired to write the script.

Sean Cunningham, who directed the 1980 original film, will be an executive producer. He said: "Expect the show to take viewers in some exciting new directions that we're confident will not only excite existing fans of 'Friday The 13th' but also attract new audiences to the situations and characters that inhabit the small town of Crystal Lake."

Stupid idea. Just make new movies that aren't in order so we can love to hate them.

Uh, it had NOTHING to do with the movie.

Rapes, I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I actually liked the series for what it's worth.

A new NOES series can't be far behind either.

I probably would have watched the 80s series if they hadnt boosted the 'Friday The 13th' name

The comics have a deeper family history so they already plenty of material

But they should do what JB said

Dumb. Slashers are tired because it about the unstoppable villain and when stories become stale they resort to sh*t like telekinetic sisters or lightening of invulnerability.
A good slasher like You're Next works cause it's self aware but not smug about it. Plus I doubt it'll be a series.
sh*t like Evil Dead works cause it follows the hero rather than the evil force. Plus Bruce Campbell. And Sam Raimi.

A show sounds dumb. A reboot sounds dumb. Please studios, hire talented writers and make original horrors. Oculus was good. Not perfect, but it did it's genre right. Make more these please.

First it was movie about a woman and her dead son. And then it was about her son for several movies, and then it was a television show that had little to do with the movies, then it was more movies, and then it was a dead franchise, and then it was a terrible reboot, and then it was a terrible reboot of the terrible reboot, and then it's a television show that has nothing to do with anything that came before....

Let me know when this rollercoaster of sh*t stops at the tunnel to hell where it belongs.
