Jessica Chastain May Play Female Lead in "Mission: Impossible 5"Submit Comment
It was recently reported that Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) is close to signing a deal to play Marilyn Monroe in Andrew Dominik's "Blonde." And now comes word that Paramount Pictures is considering the actress to star opposite Tom Cruise in "Mission: Impossible 5."

At this point, the news is just a rumor. But according to SchmoesKnow, Chastain will play the lead female role, which is Tom Cruise's right hand woman. There aren't a lot of details, but it sounds like she'll be a fellow agent.

"Mission: Impossible 5" will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) from a script by Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3). It's set to hit theaters on December 25th, 2015.

She's ok, I guess. Cruise is gonna need ten inch lifts to stand next to her.

@boogiel

Wait, you mean Cruise isn't 6'1?

Ummm Tom is 3 inches taller than her. She's only 5'4".

I guess whenever Tom's star loses a little shine it's time for another MI film. Dude is unflushable.

Haters be dammed :)

She would definitely give him a sort of good counterbalance. When Avengers happened I was a little discouraged, but Smulders serving as a right hand lady to Fury really added to the energy and conflict of Fury otherwise he was just barking orders. Chastain has shown she can play a government agent, now strip away the insecurity and she might be just what you need. I hope they might bring Ving Rhames back.

Would have been good to get bird back for mission impossible 6. I thought ghost protocol was the best entry in the franchise. I thought it felt more like M.I than the last couple of films. Although I did enjoy M.I 3

@Putmansp*ssy
The way all these older franchises are going, 6 will be the final entry so bring in Bird indeed if they can help it. LOL

Imo MI3 was the most enjoyable from an action and tone standpoint. It also has by far the best villain. The first film and Ghost Protocol were a lot closer to the source material though, with way more twists and turns and espionage like you would expect from a series with that title.

MI2 was terrible, but was great for B-movie lovers. Still never saw much sense in making a pg-13 rated Woo movie. It's like putting a bull in a china shop then chopping off his legs and horns.

Well, at least I know which scenes it's safe to take a nap in and not miss out on the plot. If any.

Wait ... they're making Mission Impossible 5 ? Tom must be behind on his Scientology dues.
