"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" Still Doesn't Have a Script

Posted: April 23rd, 2014 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" Still DoesnSubmit Comment
Back in March, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" has yet to be greenlit, despite the fact that the last installment grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

But then earlier this month, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that the plan is to start filming soon, possibly before the end of the year. It now turns out that both statements may be correct.

Speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival, Disney Chairman Alan Horn revealed that he has yet to see a "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" script that he's willing to give the greenlight to.

It seems that there have been many versions of the script submitted to Horn. And just because he doesn't feel they're worth pursuing, that doesn't mean that a draft won't soon cross his desk that he'll want to greenlight. Bruckheimer obviously feels confident that this will happen within the next few month. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, everything else is ready. Johnny Depp is on board to reprise the role of Jack Sparrow and the film already signed directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki).

f*cking oath Johnny is ready, I bet he rang Disney as soon as those Transcendence numbers came through opening weekend.

Strangely enough I say make him a supporting character or have him share screen time with everyone else. The original trilogy was a thousand times more fun because they mixed in Knightley/Bloom's love story to it. Jack Sparrow is a cool character but he isn't a character you put all the attention on. A co-star maybe, but not the lead star. I thought the best scene of "On Stranger Times" was his heart-to-heart with Geoffrey Rush when they are tied to the palm trees.

Ugh. Why do you people say "does anyone care about these movies" when the last one made over a BILLION dollars? Every time you say that you reinforce the popular notion that WP is full of inbred morons. Of course people care about the franchise. They spent ten hundred million to see the last one!

f*ck.

I love how the "likes" on WP's Facebook are decreasing instead of increasing. Great job, Dear Leader.

Just close the damned site, Alex. You now have PeliBlog for all the lettuce-picking illegal alien hordes, so you don't need WorstPreviews.com and its Spiderman news and its 1998 web technology. Just close this f*cker and put the damned place out of our misery.

Hey, Wait a second here... Now they are saying that Jerry Bruckheimer feels confident, that this will happen within the next few months? I haven't read that part being said on any other articles reporting this same news on other movie websites. So, How can that be true?

@BillyBunter
That's Hateful Eight related, not Pirates 5 related.

@SacDaddy: you be a retard, dog.

World War Z made a measly 200 million on a PB of 190 million. That's a mere 10 mil domestic gross. And it being a huge zombie adaptation of a huge zombie book...well, that smells like domestic flop to me.

Like I said, for the most part movie-going Americans are past Pitt and Cruise. Those two are OLD. The new hip crowd barely knows their names, and only because mom and dad had a crush on them back in the 80s and 90s.

Face it, no one in the US really cares for Pitt and Cruise anymore and any movie they make is going to generate modest profit at best.

I love it when the sockpuppets talk to each other.
minkowski writes:

200 million DOMESTIC. WWZ made a whopping 340 mil overseas, which is 63% of its gross.

...and it was a sh*tty movie. Saw it twice and can only say it consisted of a haggard, harried Pitt rushing from place to place right as zombies invade until some magical conclusion that makes the end of I am Legend look like Casablanca's finale.

What a contrived, ugly heap of trash.
