Steven Spielberg Wrote the Story for "The Goonies" SequelSubmit Comment
After years of rumors, Richard Donner recently revealed that he's working on a sequel to "The Goonies," which was directed by Donner, and written by Chris Columbus from a story by Steven Spielberg.

TMZ now caught up with Donner to get a few more details about the sequel. While the director didn't want to reveal much, he did say that Spielberg is once again involved and that "The Goonies 2" will be based on a story that Spielberg wrote.

The original film was released in 1985 and starred Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen and Martha Plimpton. No word if the sequel will follow the same gang three decades later. It's rumored that the focus will be on the kids of the gang with some cameos thrown in.

Reminds me of Fred Dekker and Monster Squad (a vastly superior film to Goonies). He sai if there was to be a sequel he would have it based around the original cast, meaning it would be set now, when they're older. But he feels that would also lose the charm of the movie since an 80s kid flick with over the top antics and kids cursing isn't the same when they can handle it at age 30.

TLDR, f*ck a Goonies sequel, f*ck Speilberg for ruining cinema, go watch Monster Squad.
