"Bioshock" Movie May Still Be Alive

"Bioshock" Movie May Still Be AliveSubmit Comment
Several years ago, Universal Pictures hired Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) to direct a big screen adaptation of the "Bioshock" video game. The studio then quickly killed the project after the budget ballooned to $160 million and was headed for an "R" rating.

A few months later, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) stepped in to replace him, but eventually left the project as well. Then last year, "Bioshock" creator Ken Levine revealed that he personally killed the movie.

Now comes word that Sony Pictures may be interested in the project, since it just registered several domain names, including Bioshock-Movie.com, Bioshock-Movie.net and Bio-Shock.net.

It's not clear what this means, but Levine may have changed his mind. He has been talking about getting into screenplay writing and making an attempt at writing the "Bioshock" movie. While we don't know if he's involved with the project, he's now writing the script for the upcoming "Logan's Run" remake.

Hollywood didn't want to give Verbinski $160 million for a BioShock movie. So instead they gave him $250 million for a Lone Ranger movie. Yeah.

Anyways, it was a fun enough game, but I'm not interested in seeing more Rand misrepresentation/propaganda.

@minkowski.
In reference to a post from a few weeks ago concerning the validity of Kurzweil and the singularity theory, I gotta say that I've taken your comments to head and looked into the idea that I assume you were trying to put forth: that it's bunk. I've got an excellent doc*mentary to recommend supporting the same idea, that artificial intelligent is a myth that has been around in some form or other for as long as human culture. Here's the address of the first part of that doc*mentary:

Nice. A movie based on the first bioshock would be great. It needs the right director though. It's a very dark world with f*cked up characters verbinski couldn't pull it off...good job they killed it until they find the right director. I've got a feeling their gonna f*ck this film anyway just get Bryan Singer in and call it Analshock already

Hey man. I got your condolences from the other post. Yes I have been trolled. We should start a f*cking club. It's really sad.

@leilei89
You gave input to and yeah it has to be the same guy because it's the same lame gay jokes with every troll impersonator. Not exactly a smart guy whoever it is. LOL Sorry, don't want to be sexist, let me correct. That bitch/bastard are not very smart. LOL

@stapes: thanks for that. I'll be sure to download and check it out.

As for the news....would have been worthwhile years ago, but in the world of games, things movie fast.

In other words, Bioshock is yesterday's news, even if people are still playing it.

Strike while the iron's hot, as the old saying goes.
