Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, the Boxer and Inspiration for Denzel Washington's Movie, Dead at 76

Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, the Boxer and Inspiration for Denzel WashingtonSubmit Comment
Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, who spent 19 years in jail for a triple murder he did not commit and inspired Bob Dylan's classic song "Hurricane" as well as Denzel Washington's movie, has died in Toronto. He passed away in his home on Sunday of prostate cancer, at age 76.

Growing up, Carter got in trouble at every step, landing in a juvenile reform center and jail for everything from muggings to assaults. Despite a tough road, he continued to train for a boxing career. And by 1966, he was a professional middleweight contender and was in contention for the world title.

But soon after, in the summer of 1966, a bartender and two customers were shot dead, and Carter was accused of committing the crime, even with lack of evidence. He was eventually convicted by an all-white jury and received a life sentence.

Carter went public with his plight and caught the attention of Dylan, whose 1975 song helped galvanize support. It would take another decade before a judge finally overturned his conviction, ruling that the verdict was "based on racism rather than reason."

The time in jail destroyed Carter's life. He was estranged from his wife and children, too old to fight, and was blind in one eye from a botched prison operation.

Despite everything, Carter was able to piece his life together. Before his death, he said he "lived in hell for the first 49 years, and have been in heaven for the past 28 years."

Some angry black dude who hated white people, who spent his life either in prison or beating people up, has died, and I care why, again?

Why is it always racism when white folks put people in prison on flimsy evidence, but never racism when white people put white people in prison on flimsy evidence, which happens more often than the former?

Or do black people merely live their lives blaming the bogeyman of "racism" for everything bad that happens to them instead of admitting that they're either responsible for their fate, or life is full of f*ck-ups and unfairness, regardless of skin color?

I'm so sick of hearing black people cry. Shut the f*ck up already, babies.

The "racist" jury gave Rubin life in prison instead of the death sentence. Too bad the f*cker was driving a similar white car with similar weapons used in the murder, and was identified by more than person as one of the perpetrators.

Idiot brought this sh*t on himself.

^^ Nothing flimsy about the evidence. He was a murderer. The verdict was not dismissed, thrown out, or Nolle Pros, it was overturned. The judge in the case was a liberal bitch and even said that had it not been for certain nuances, Carter would die in prison. The celebrities and liberals muddied the water so much yet he was convicted by a jury TWICE!

And BTW, nearly ALL of his "Celebrity" buddies turned their back on him when he nearly killed Carolyn Kelly by beating the sh*t out of her in a hotel room. Oh yeah, and she was trying to HELP him by raising money to get him a new trial. He was a savage and slipped through the cracks.
