David Fincher to be Replaced on Steve Jobs Biopic Due to Unreasonable Requests

David Fincher to be Replaced on Steve Jobs Biopic Due to Unreasonable RequestsSubmit Comment
It was recently reported that David Fincher was in talks to direct the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, which is written by Aaron Sorkin. At the time, Fincher said that the only way he'll do the project is if Christian Bale will play the lead role. Apparently there were many other requests that will likely result in him losing the job.

According to THR, the helmer wants Sony Pictures to give him $10 million upfront and hand over control over marketing. A source close to the studio said his request is "ridiculous," adding: "You're not doing 'Transformers' here. You're not doing 'Captain America.' This is quality it's not screaming commerciality. He should be rewarded in success but not up front."

And this isn't the first time he's requested control over marketing. Back in 2011, Sony allowed him considerable input into the marketing of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," including honoring his request to use the tagline "The feel bad movie of Christmas" in its campaign. Fincher also had the studio create metal, razor-blade-shaped posters for the film that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce but were not suitable for display in theaters.

At this point, Sony isn't interested in working with Fincher and is looking for his replacement, but that could change if the director is willing to compromise.

Maybe Christian Bale said that he will only play Steve Jobs in this if David Fincher is not the director.

This synopsis almost sounds like one of those fake April Fool's Day stories.

JOBS was good enough anyway. Like the above says. It's been done, who cares if it gets done again?

What else decent has this guy done besides Fight Club?

@BlackDynamite: well, he made Seven. And Alien 3 isn't bad except for the HUMONGOUS dump it takes on the steaming innards of Aliens...The Game was also quite damned good, one of my "favorite" Fincher films, back before he got too full of himself...

I beat up and murdered some drunken homeless dude and then stuffed his corpse through the donation slot at Goodwill.

And now we're one day closer to Soylent Green.

Gotta make sure I get this straight: A movie about an insufferable price replaces their director ?

Sounds right.
