Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, who are best known for their comedy show "Key and Peele," have signed on to produce New Line Cinema's upcoming "Police Academy" reboot.

Original producer Paul Maslansky is set to return for the new film, which will once again focus on a ragtag group of police recruits who are repeatedly called to help save the city. The first movie was released in 1984 and starred Steve Guttenberg. It went on to get six sequels and a pair of TV series.

"It's going to be very worthwhile to the people who remember it and to those who saw it on TV," said Maslansky. "It's going to be a new class. We hope to discover new talent and season it with great comedians. It'll be anything but another movie with a numeral next to it. And we'll most probably retain the wonderful musical theme."

A reboot of "Police Academy" has been in the works for several years at New Line. First-time director Scott Zabielski, who was attached to the project in 2012, but is no longer on board to helm the film.

Starring (Again): Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Drew Barrymore, Zach Galifianakis, Vince Vaughn, and of course, Steve Guttenberg will receive one last paycheck and play the new Commander of the Academy.

Let's just hire all the black comedians to reboot everything.

What's next? Caddyshack? Good luck filming the doodie scene in the pool black comedians.

These two idiots do mostly racial skits, so if you want Police Academy to become a platform for racist jokes, this concept is for you.

Just hand it off to the crew of the 21 Jump Street reboot.

Well, it looks like Steve Guttenberg can finally get some steady work. Other than "acting" as Frank Savage's dad, when Frank is trying to get a reservation at Dan Tana's.

Wonder if they'll get Guttenberg to play Commandant Eric Lassard ... he's much more fitting to that role than Captain Thaddeus Harris.
