"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" to Set Up "Sinister Six" Spin-Off

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" to Set Up "Sinister Six" Spin-OffSubmit Comment
In addition to continuing with "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise, Sony Pictures will also pursue spin-offs based on such Spider-Man villains as "Venom" and "Sinister Six."

In a new interview, Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal revealed that "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will set up one of the spin-offs. "At the tail end of this movie we set up some of the other characters that will probably end up being in the 'Sinister Six,'" she said.

Even though nothing has been confirmed, there have been hints that "Sinister Six" will include villains like The Vulture, Doctor Octopus, and possibly Kraven.

Producer Avi Arad added that the studio's approach to making films about villains is to show that they weren't always evil. "It's not like somebody is born and they're a villain. Something happens and it changes their lives," he explained. "Some people can deal with it - they become the heroes. Some people can't and hate the world because of what they felt was done to them they become the villains."

A Sinister Six movie ?

The comic book to movie logic has proven before that if you have three (or more villains), that the story becomes muddled and disappointing (Note: The Avengers dealt with a race of aliens AND Loki i.e. two villains) ......

Cases in point :

Batman & Robin: Three Villains (w/ Bane as a sub-henchman of Poison Ivy)

Logistically, the third villain will have to be dealt quickly in Act 1 (like they did with Sandman in The Dark Knight Rises), so that the story can be balanced evenly.

Also, who would make a good Vulture ? Gotta go with Malkovich or Kingsley.

Yep. This is a flop waiting to happen.

TDKR did not have a villain called Sandman.

Thanks, Deaft0ne.

You're correct. Spiderman III had Sandman.

TDKR had the Scarecrow (for a brief time)

@Max

Yeah it was funny to see him presiding over the kangaroo court towards the end.

@ Deaft0ne

Absolutely. I'd love to see Cillian play the Mad Hatter. He'd knock it out of the park.

Or Kevin Spacey as The Riddler.

And here I was thinking that the whole Sinister Six angle would be resolved in ASM 4.
