Will Marvel Replace Chris Evans as Captain America?

Will Marvel Replace Chris Evans as Captain America?Submit Comment
When Chris Evans was initially offered the chance to play Captain America, he was concerned that Marvel wanted to lock him into a nine-picture deal. After some negotiations, he was able to lower the agreement to only six films.

Evans has already appeared in "Captain America: The First Avenger," "The Avengers," and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." And he is now filming "Avengers: Age of Ultron." That means that Marvel can use him in only two more films, and it was just announced that "Captain America 3" will be released in 2016. So actually, one more.

But when signing Evans, Marvel was thinking many steps ahead. Because during a new interview, Sebastian Stan revealed that he's signed for nine films and since he's only been in the two "Captain America" movies, Marvel can use him seven more times.

Stan played Bucky in the first installment and the Winter Soldier in the sequel. The way things are going, it's starting to look like Marvel may actually kill off Chris Evans and have Stan step in as the new Captain America, just it happened in the comic books.

At this point, this is all just speculation. But unless Marvel is willing to give Evans a massive pay increase to have him return, using Stan may be a good option.

As much as I think Evans was the wrong choice for the character, the thought of them killing off one of the main avengers is a mind marvel will not make. This script and character isn't well known enough to take over and develop its own franchise. Watch captain America 2 perform better than iron man 3. If any avenger still be killed off it would most likely be hulk.

It's the same question with RDJ's Tony Stark. Basically it will boil down to one thing: More money.

Maybe in Cap 3 they kill off Evans then introduce punisher and he takes over as Cap just as in the comics too.

They give him his money to stay as Captain America.

just don't do what fantastic four reboot is doing...younger actors...think it's too soon to be talking about replacing chris evans...that should be reserved until the last avengers and captain america 3 have begun shooting

Yeah, and I remember reading somewhere that Jodorowsky was planning to make a DUNE movie series, although not so faithfull to the original source material, I guess it was respectful.

I mean would be great to put my hands onto that huge graphic book.

Chris Foss, H.R. Giger, Moebius. Stop, motherf*cker, the world is getting worse. Get the f*ck out.

1. Fix your spelling and grammatical errors. You, unlike everyone else, have the ability to edit your comments.

2. Thanks for spoiling Captain America: The Winter Spoldier, as I wasn't aware The Winter Soldier and Bucky are the same person. Perhaps that information was mentioned previously, but I'm not so big on comic book movies I actually pay attention to the relevant news much beyond the superficial.

3. They can always renegotiate his contract. Pay him a little more. It's not like he'll make more doing something else. So the six-film contract's not a big deal and in Hollywood, doesn't mean a whole lot.

4. We're talking about something that will become an issue, perhaps, in four years. Obama will be gone for two before Evan's contractual limitations becomes an issue. By that time, Marvel may have made plans to move on to another character, another iteration of the Avengers.

5. I'm pretty sure Evan and Marvel have already discussed the terms of his contract renewal. Not like they're going to wait until filming the seventh film before getting his signature.

I thought captain america was known as the winter soldier and I thought the bad guy in this was going to be crossbones. Does anyone know?
minkowski writes:

^^Frank Grillo plays Brock Rumlow (Crossbones), a SHIELD operative, in the Winter Soldier, but the main villain is Bucky, aka the Winter Soldier.

@Mink
So you didn't know about who the winter soldier is, but you know about crossbones? Because you don't follow comic book movies...... right....
PORN-FLY writes:

Bucky being The Winter Soldier was mentioned here in the comment section a while back
minkowski writes:
on March 14th, 2014 at 7:44:47 PM

@Pornfly: Yeah, I really don't fully read most of the comments.

@Natacu: No, I do not follow comic book movies, which is why I didn't know the Winter Soldier and Bucky are the same person, which is also why I didn't know that that fact had been mentioned on here within the comments sections.

And I "knew" what I told Mrstretch because following my original comment, within this article, I felt compelled to correct my comic book ignorance by learning some new worthless facts via a Google search.

Isn't that people are supposed to do when they discover they're ignorant of some given set of facts? Learn? And that's what I did.

Now I expect an apology, and a congratulatory word or two, from you any moment now.

@Minkowski,

Your going to have to tell them your joking or they won't get it.

Shoe polish around the eyes making it so you can't recognize Sebastian Stan from the first movie is almost as bad as Clark Kent fooling people wearing eye glasses.
minkowski writes:

I was just joking, folks. Hahahahahaha!
minkowski writes:
on March 14th, 2014 at 8:14:34 PM

@phoenix fire: agreed. I said something similar although I didn't compare Stan to Supes.

I said it was hard to believe the Winter Soldier would put mascara around his eyes in an attempt to disguise his identity, and I couldn't see what other purpose all that black stuff could possibly serve.
Natacu writes:

@Mink
No apology, but I love the fact that you read up on your comic book history. Kudos to you for following comic book movies (cough, cough). Theres your praise. P.S. Im just messing with you. I've been lurking here for a long while and I find your posts some of the funniest things I've ever read. Looking forward to your reply.
