Bryan Cranston Wanted to Play Lex Luthor in "Batman vs Superman"Submit Comment
The only thing more unexpected than Ben Affleck being cast as Batman in "Batman vs Superman," was Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) being cast as Lex Luthor, Superman's arch nemesis.

Director Zack Snyder recently asked fans to trust him, stating that he's not crazy and knows exactly what he's doing. But many of those fans are still baffled by such a bizarre choice and would have liked to see "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston play the role instead.

Now, during "The Howard Stern Show," Cranston spoke about whether he was ever considered for the part of Lex Luthor. "In the minds of fans, it's true. In the minds of the hierarchy at Warner Bros, it's not true," he replied. "I was not involved in any of that whatsoever, [but] I would have welcomed it."

It's a Shame he wasn't even considered. Will somebody lend me a gun? I'm gonna shoot those idiots WB brass.

At the opposite of Gene Hackman, he has the perfect voice to add intensity for the role but instead they chose the stuttering annoying young kid with no charisma whatsoever so yeah those pricks should be shot.

"You know, you really don't need a forensics team to get to the bottom of this. If you guys were gonna cast Bryan Cranston, you'd have casted Bryan Cranston."

Stupid! Can't see that little rat Bering any good in the role at all it's a really sh*tty choice. Cranston on the other hand would have been great. The guys like a chameleon and I'd watch the guy just eating his cornflakes on the morning. Everything about this film sounds terrible

Cranston can play very intense.... He would have been great. Instead now we get a geeky insecure young Luthor. Great (I was being ironic with the great part) ha ha ha ha ha..... Hmmmmm

I think Bullitt should play Lex Luthor (no acting required).

oh, man, you have to see the honest trailer for Superman IV: The Quest for Peace:

I'm pretty sure they will retold Bruce Wayne's Batman origins, in a new way, because they know the material.

I mean, Man of Steel was cool, but not that great. Anyway

like Wayne Gale says: Repetition works, David. Is yunk food for the masses, f*ck it.

@Cinemaisdead Bullit can play his penis, because he is a f*cking d*ck, a piss soaked one at that. Piss drenched c*nt.

Sorry Mr. Cranston, that would just make way too much sense.

Casting mistakes this stupid feels a little weird from WB. They usually run a pretty tight ship over there. Hope they're not turning into FOX.

Cranston's too damned old. He looked sixty or so in Breaking Bad. So there's a good reason he wasn't chosen.

Still, Eisenberg looks ten, so that's just as bad, perhaps worth when you factor the differences in talent.
minkowski writes:

*worse.

I'm not sure what they're going for in terms of cast. IF they were going for a younger, hip cast, they shouldn't have casted older actors such as Ben Affleck and to a lesser extent, Gal Godot.

In terms of casting, Jesse Eisenberg still looks like a punk teenager, not a billionaire criminal mastermind.
minkowski writes:

"not a billionaire criminal mastermind."

Why? He certainly nailed the Facebook founder role perfectly.
CelluloidMan writes:

If Affleck is going to be weathered and worn and Superman is so young, how would it f*cking fit that Luthor would be young as well?...Adding insult to injury, as Eisenberg?!

If anything, you need a seasoned Luthor to outwit a naive Superman and make it more even, I'd say.

Anyway, Cranston shouldn't be allowed anywhere this train wreck. He dodged a bullet, let's leave it at that.
Plowage writes:

He's too good for the other morons in this cast. He'd show them up and every viewer would be rooting for Lex instead of the justice league.

At least everyone will want Esienberg to die.
