Zack Snyder Says Terry Gilliam's "Watchmen" Version Was Insanely Bad

Posted: March 3rd, 2014 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Zack Snyder Says Terry GilliamSubmit Comment
Last week, producer Joel Silver spoke about "Watchmen" and how Terry Gilliam's original ending would have worked so much better than Zack Snyder's version, which he criticized overall for being a slave to the source material.

Gilliam's ending focused on Dr. Manhattan going into the past in order to stop himself from being created. After he succeeds, Rorschach, Nite Owl, and Silk Spectre become nothing more than characters from a comic book, rather than real people.

Snyder has now responded to the comments. "If you read the Gilliam ending, it's completely insane. The fans would have stormed the castle on that one," he said. Producer Deborah Snyder added: "The fans would have been thinking that they were smoking crack."

Zack continued: "I just love the movie [that I made] and it was a labor of love. And I made it because I knew that the studio would have made the movie anyway and they would have made it crazy. So I made it to save it from the Terry Gilliams of this world."

Yeah, well, Zack Snyder should probably lay off the rocks unless he likes broken windows.

Gilliam trying to turn a Moore story into a Gilliam one. No surprise there.

Yeah, god forbid the director express himself by adding a touch of his own genius to the films he directs, because nothing says "creative talent" like being a slave to the moronic, mindless Internet fanboys, right?

And who the f*ck is Zack Snyder to call anything anyone else does bad? This stupid f*cker still hasn't lived down Man of Steel, one of the worst comic book adaptations ever made. I won't even throw Sucker Punch out there because that one is tacit.

sh*t, yeah I want to see The Man who f*cking Killed don Quixote.

As for mr. Snyder, they changed the ending a little bit, but it worked at the end, it was a good flick overall, but impossible to compare it to things like Time Bandits, Brazil, The Fisher King, f*cking 12 Monkeys.

I do think Gilliam's idea for an ending was brilliant, but his film would've been even worse than Snyder's.

Yeah, god for bid one artist disrespect source material already considered on the same level as literature to create yet another time travel subplot, much less material for a pathetic internet troll to attack his intellectual betters..

Too bad nobody could save Man of Steel from Zack Snyder.

Gilliam's ending was quirky and pretty creative but would have been too light hearted for such a dark film. I'm sure Gilliam's film would have been more light hearted in general but that would have ruined the true intent of the story's author imo.

I love the end Snyder uses. It's so different than the typical hwood ending. The bad guy wins and in turn saves everyone. That's f*cking awesome!!! Surprised the he'll out of me and reconstituted my faith in great narratives. It's not a perfect film but there's nothing wrong with the ending.

Coulda been worse. Coulda had a giant vagina monster eat up New York City....oh wait.

Although I'm a big fan of Snyder's Watchmen, what's all this dogging of Gilliam?

How smart is he comparing projects? Gilliam still does cinema...Snyder? Well the CV speaks for itself...

If I were him, I'd be humble and keep his mouth shut... his current cast looks more like B-movie version of Superman Vs Batman, IMO.

Gilliamīs Fear and loathing in Las Vegas is absolutely brilliant but the rest is sh*t.
At least Snyder made Dawn of the dead,300,Man of steel and Watchmen...all masterpieces !!!

Any one of you that says this would have been a decent ending are the same *ssholes who would be calling it the worst movie ever if it was actually made. You're just contrarian *ssholes that think going against what the majority of people think makes you smarter than them. Watchmen wasn't the best movie ever but it's a lot better than it could have been. I, for one, think that the idea to not waste 30 minutes explaining how Ozy genetically engineered an alien would have been a terrible waste, so would them waking up from a dream like Gilliam would have done.
Zackass writes:

Oh, and the Dawn of the Dead remake is the best zombie movie ever made. Period.

@mink
What's funny is this f*cker just uses the graphic novel as a storyboard because he is too lazy to create his own ideas. He hasn't been able to create anything on his own. Dawn of the Dead was a remake, 300 and Watchmen are based off of graphic novels, Sucker Punch was just horrible and that was his only original idea so what does that say, Man of Steel was treated like 300 with just adrenaline-fueled scenes and no character development, and finally this current atrocity he is working on. Not only does he need to keep his mouth shut, he needs to keep in the corner and just be glad he is as successful as he is in the box office. But none of it is him to being anything other that entertaining the masses with action.

The only good thing that Znyder has done was the Dawn of the Dead remake.
Everything else after that is just overhyped, over-appreciated pieces of sh*t.
