Sony Pictures Planning "Spider-Man" Film Every Year

Sony Pictures Planning "Spider-Man" Film Every YearSubmit Comment
Sony Pictures had a disappointing year in 2013 due to such big-budget failures as "After Earth" and "White House Down." But thanks to the "Spider-Man" franchise, the studio is confident is consistently be profitable.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" was released in 2012 and went on to gross over $750 million worldwide. Sony feels it can do even better, which is why it spend a whopping $200 million on the sequel, which is due out this May.

After that, the studio is planning to expand the franchise. "We are expanding the 'Spider-Man' universe into 'The Sinister Six' and 'Venom,' so that we have 'Spider-Man' movies every year," said Sony.

The expansion will start with "The Amazing Spider-Man 3," which will once again be directed by Marc Webb and is set to hit theaters in June of 2016. "Venom" will be directed by Alex Kurtzman ("Star Trek" and "Transformers" writer), while Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) will write "The Sinister Six" with an eye to direct.

Whoa a dream come true for me. I must admit that besides the flaws of the Amazing Spider-Man reboot they are really kicking the sh*t out of the mythos on this one.

Either this is Sony's brilliant move or an act out of desperation. I tend to choose the latter.

Is part of that $200 mil. budget being used to pay Alex force this down our throats? No matter how good this claims to be I will not see these out of spite. As soon as Jamie Foxx was in I was out. He looks ridiculous.
