Will Smith to Star in "Brilliance" Sci-Fi ThrillerSubmit Comment
Will Smith is in talks to star in Universal Pictures' upcoming "Brilliance" sci-fi thriller, which will be directed by Julius Onah (God Particle) from a script by David Koepp (War of the Worlds).

Set in a world where some people called "brilliants" are born with heightened cognitive abilities, the story follows a federal agent whose extraordinary gift makes him exceptional at hunting terrorists.

The film is based on a novel by Marcus Sakey. It was published in August 2013 and is the first of a planned three-book series, with the second book set to be released later this year.

Not the worst idea and David Koepp has a pretty solid resume so sure why not. Nice to see Smith doing something solo without his kids besides Men in Black. He is a great actor when he wants to be.

Now your career takes a big turn for the worse. Looks like smith wants a twilight series of his own

Another sci-fi thriller. Haven't this guy learn anything from his previous after earth flop?

I think this might be pretty solid. Smiths track record is too go for me not to give him the benefit of a doubt. He made some sh*t, but lots of strong actors have. But as for his son, hes just awful and past redemption.

Another SciFi for Smith?...yawn.

In After Earth, he's the greatest warrior with his son...OK. In this, he's the greatest "brilliance" in finding terrorists...OK. You see a pattern?

Pass...

Sounds like yet another Divergent book-to-film deal, and if it fails, Will Smith's career is toast.

Sounds like Divergent? Only maybe because its based on a series of sci-fi novels. It sounds promising to me, more like Hannibal or Mentalist TV series. Smith knows he needs a comeback film and shouldn't let this go to waste.

"Set in a world where some people called "brilliants" are born with heightened cognitive abilities...."

^^Sounds reminiscent of Divergent to me.

But we know you'll support anything Will Smith does just because he's black. He could go out and kill three children and six nuns and you'd say "aw, shucks, but it's Will Smith, so it's okay!".

*sigh*

@mink
That's the excuse for most actors nowadays mink. Actually since the dawn of acting pretty much. LOL They entertain but don't care of their quality as long as they entertain us.
