James Cameron Gives Update on "Avatar" Sequels

James Cameron Gives Update on "Avatar" SequelsSubmit Comment
While speaking to RTL, James Cameron revealed that the three upcoming "Avatar" sequels are still being written, but he expects that progress will happen faster than on the first film.

"We're still in the early stages," he said. "Right now we're developing the software. I'm writing the scripts. We're designing all the creatures and characters and the settings, and so on. So, I'm not actually directing yet, but I'm doing all the other creative processes that lead up to that."

Cameron added: "It's going very well. I think it's going to be spectacular. You'll see new worlds, new habitats, new cultures. The primary conflict between the human view of dominating nature and the Na'vi view of being integrated into nature is the same, but it manifests itself in very different ways."

He went on to say that all the new technology that has been created has greatly reduced the amount of time it takes to make these type of films. "The first ['Avatar'] took almost four years to make," said the director. "We expect to be able to accelerate the process quite a bit, because we've improved a lot of the software and the computer graphics tools, and we've been working very closely with Weta Digital down here in New Zealand developing a whole new suite of tools to speed up the process."

"Avatar 2"is set to hit theaters in December of 2016. "Avatar 3" will then be released in December of 2017, and "Avatar" 4 will follow a year later.

Thanks for letting me know how rich you're going to be off the stupidity of those who come see these pieces of trash for 3 years in a row.

Like all successful directors, they all have to fall from grace...they can't be sucessful forever.

I think these two unwanted, sold-out sequels maybe be his f*cking indoing, if you ask me.

I'm only curious about the vague hint that Cameron might not actually be directing this (exec producer role) ...which perhaps hints to the possibility that he'll be directing something else instead.

Something R-rated and NOT gay like Avatar.

Hope, hope...

Moooooo! I love the glorious herd mentality this site fosters. You guys are so incredibly limited in your thinking. Avatar is a great movie. It received critical acclaim. It offered ground breaking special effects and even advanced movie-making technology. And yet every one of you fat asses attack it! This kind of unanimous loathing towards Avatar just goes to show how limited minds fall in line with popular trends. Avatar was epic. Get over it.

Or how limited minds fall into line with popular critical and mainstream perceptions of a piece of sh*t ferngully remake, right? f*cking hypocrite wannabe minkowski contrarian.
