Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" Sequel Aimed for 2016?

At this point, we know very little about Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie. We have yet to see a trailer, poster or anything else that gives us an idea of what to expect.

But now comes word from JoBlo that Marvel is already planning a sequel and has scheduled it to hit theaters on May 6th, 2016, the same date that "Batman vs Superman" will open.

If the story is true, then that means that this will be the shortest amount of time between a Marvel film and its sequel. It was two years between "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2." With "Guardians of the Galaxy," it will be about a year and nine months.

The website also confirmed an earlier rumor that an animated "Guardians of the Galaxy" TV series is also in the works and is set to debut on Disney XD in the fall of 2015. Apparently Disney really believes in the property.

No f*cking way is this true. Pratt is already slated to start shooting JP4. They wouldnt even be able to shoot this for awhile. As soon as hes done with JP4 zoe saldana should be starting he over 12 month commitment to the blue slave trade for cameron down in new zealand.

This just from a logistical stand point sounds like bullsh*t pipe dream.

If I were marvel id at least wait and see if it even works and gets accepted by the movie going joes before starting on an expensive sequel.

They might be trying to desperately throw it together and somehow work out a quick film schedule between JP4 and avatars 2 through 4....but that just screams rush job and the overall quality will be that of a non first party nintendo wii game circa 2008.

Not to mention this is just reeking of big boy ego and marvel thinking they are literally masters of the universe and no matter what they make and what quality it is that people will run to it to the tune of a billion plus.

On the other hand IM3 did over a billion and that was subpar, but that was a sequel and had RDJ. Guardians in comparison is not a sequel, has characters 90% of movie population hasnt heard of and most importantly no RDJ.

Im gonna stick with my first thoughts when this movie was announced, its gonna bomb hard and marvels movie universe threads will all start to unravel and right when marvel gets desperate to save it RDJ will turn them down for another renewal

Marvel needs to rush Avengers 3 into that slot just to slam closed the coffin lid on DC's/WB's cinematic universe.

I understand that Marvel wants to tie in earth heroes to galactic characters like Thanos, Galactus, etc. But the Guardians are such a unknown and obscure characters to the general public they should have picked something else. Planning a sequel already seems like jumping the gun.

^Mink you genius, you could probably take down DC all by yourself if they hadn't done so themselves
