Stan Lee Says Marvel's "Agents of SHIELD" TV Series Needs Better Characters

Posted: February 2nd, 2014 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Stan Lee Says MarvelSubmit Comment
After Marvel announced its "Agents of SHIELD" TV series, it became clear that the show was going to be a hit, especially after the success of "The Avengers." But the result was less than exciting. While many expected to see their favorite superheroes, the show mostly revolves around Agent Coulson and a bunch of unknown characters.

This upcoming episode will feature a cameo by Stan Lee, who recently spoke about the TV series, revealing that it's time for it to go in a different direction. "I guess they felt they had to have some normal people," he said. "I just feel that we also need more colorful characters to be popping up all the time."

It was announced that Deathlok and Sif will soon be making appearances, something that Lee likes. "That will be great. I think that's what the show needs," he explained. "I think people will tune in to see those characters and will enjoy seeing them in the context of being with normal people on a normal mission."

This time I agree with Stan. Personally, I think it's funny that even he thinks that show is downwind of its potential.

"Arrow" kicks "Agents of Shield's" ass. ABC should have made the show more like "Fringe" but it's soooo watered down. It's got to be the producers fault because on TV directors change in and out but the producers carry the vision. To ruin this show is a colossal failure and some people should never get a job after this, not for a while.

I like some of the eps but it needs more major Marvel characters. Sammy Jackson is guest starring as Nick Fury on the May season finale.

they also expanded on what happened to Agent Coulson after his 'death'

Stan is still the man with the plan

and the plan is to control incontinence

Stan is part right...

Like I've posted before, the TV series could have been much more if done right.

Marvel's universe is so vast, the movies are just handling the big players (the tip of the iceberg), but there's nothing that covers the D-List to Z-List characters. The Tav show could cover this...

It's OK to present unknown character agents because it shows the inner working of SHIELD to the audience. Coulson acts like a guide....but they gotta be doing something f*cking interesting to make this work!!

I just think either they just don't have the budget to do so many costumes/ SFX or simply they don't wanna f*ck with future Marvel character/actor properties...

In either instance, they are not reaching the series' potential...shame. It's really doing a disservice to the Marvel brand.

Boosh. Take that Joss Whedon, you white knight, feminist, hack writing, trope reusing, piece of sh*t.

hes right the show is boring.

lol, and a big eff you to all the people who said this one wouldn't suck without superheroes.

Durrrrrr.

Arrow, the one thing DC seems to be doing right, is kicking this show in the ass storywise. This last episode literally ran 7 subplots coherently, and set up the groundwork for a possible Suicide Squad show. I almost believe DC should just hire the people crafting their television Universe to run the Cinematic one.

DC should fire nearly everyone involved with their film adaptations, cut loose from WB, found their own studio, and hire an entirely new crew to reboot their franchises.

Clean house, start free and fresh.

I agree mink. DC is f*cking up. It seems they want Goyer and Synder to be their Joss Whedon.

....and better writers, better director, better actors...the list is endless.

I would like more known heroes on the show but on the other side it's agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, not superheroes of S.H.I.E.L.D. I think that Whedon does a hell of a job making with the show.

I've been saying it for a while now that the show is going down hill. We need to start seeing other marvel characters like Jessica Drew, Carol Danvers and Heroes for Hire. How bout doing something with the punisher. Are they not allowed to mention any mutants at all?
If they cant do any of that u might as well have the avengers do a walk on.
Doucheception writes:

^Kon Kun, Joss Whedon only helped write the pilot episode, all the other ones are written by his brother Jed or a bunch o random writers, which is probably why most episode seem to have a different feeling, like The episode after Thor 2 that one felt kind of dark, and then there's other ones that feel too campy, and then there's other ones that just plainly don't know what they are.
Doucheception writes:

Suggestion take off Skye, her character is really annoying. Bring in a more experienced and older agent, I can stand Fitz and Simmons, and Ward make him more than one dimensional, the only episode where he felt like he was more than a douche or a side character was the episode with his flashbacks and rage.
