"Captain America 3" Hires Directors, Outline Being Written

"Captain America 3" Hires Directors, Outline Being WrittenSubmit Comment
Even though "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" won't hit theaters until April, Variety has learned that Marvel will bring back Anthony and Joe Russo, directors of the sequel, for a third installment in the franchise.

"Captain America 3" has yet to be greenlit, but Marvel is apparently so impressed with how "The Winter Soldier" turned out and the film's strong test screenings that the studio decided to move quickly to attach the brothers for at least one more "Captain America" film.

The third movie doesn't have a release date, but Marvel and the directors already started working on an outline. Chris Evans will return to play the title character.

saw this coming after the avengers. i really wasn't impressed with captain america the first avenger. I'll watch the winter soldier to see if this franchise is worth it.

They have to get all of his movies done before he's an old fart

Whoa, Marvel really betting big on this one. Did they learn nothing from Iron Man 2?

Wow, so soon too!

I will say this, CA2 seems to have a solid message formed and the directors seem to be full of ideas so I say let's see where it goes. It just seems like it could be the best put together film of Phase 2.

Yes they can do Captain America: The Death of the Dream. Story Arc. Or not to give anything away Captain America:Civil War

@python6
I keep feeling like they are going in the direction of the Civil war arc since the end of the first Avengers ends with the world questioning the validity of super beings and the butting heads of Stark and Rogers. It would be amazing to see them go head-to-head as a sort of promise from their quarrel in the first one when he challenges him in the lab. I really feel it will go that way and hope so it would be a spectacular film or phase of films dealing with the heroes attempting to be good or run for their lives in a world that demands their submission.

i'm still awaiting someone to ask chris evans his thoughts on the fantastic four reboot and having his human torch character played by somebody else

@synthetic1985
He did a good job as the Human Torch. He's the only one of the "double dipper" actors who have done two superhero films that I think he did a good job in both.

Lets hope Chris Evans bulks up for CA3 then.

I actually have high hopes for this CA2, since just about everything I've seen so far looks promising. Captain America has some of the best stories in the comics, because he's not this larger than life superhero, he's an above average man who still manages to hold his own amongst these "gods" and super beings.

If they do edge their way towards a Civil War movie, they are going to have to expand their cinematic universe by a whole lot, because in the comics, that was a universe wide event. It'd be cool if they could work up a deal with Sony and Fox to include the x men, fantastic four, and Spider-man in it as well, since they were key members in the event as well.

I take it this means they are planning a Thor 3 as well, seeing how the last one ended.

Wow. Another comic book sequel. Who would've thunk it?

TWS looks decent from the trailers and having read the civil war compilation book, it is a massive story and they can't depict it on film without including the X-Men and Spider-Man and so on.

Altering Ultron for Avengers 2 is one thing but they should not cut corners on Civil War if they are headed in that direction.
