Guy Ritchie to Direct First of Six "King Arthur" Films

Guy Ritchie to Direct First of Six "King Arthur" FilmsSubmit Comment
Four year ago it was reported that Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch) signed on to direct a "King Arthur" film for Warner Bros. At the time, Ritchie was working on the script with John Hodge (The Beach).

The project eventually fell apart, but now comes word that it's back and has a new ambitious plan associated with it. According to Deadline, Ritchie is once again attached to direct "King Arthur," which will be a big-budget movie that's means to span six films. Joby Harold (Awake) already wrote the script for the first installment.

Project aims to be a re-imagining of the legend of Arthur, believed to have been a 6th century king who defended Britain against Saxon invaders. Key source material will be Thomas Mallory's "Le Morte d'Arthur," published in 1485 as a compilation of French and English tales.

Yeah.. And I'm sure we'll see The Stand in 3 films and Two seasons of a TV show as well.

This will never last 6 movies.

There's only one King Arthur film anyone ever needs to see and that's Excalibur.

Six ones?! No bloody way Jose! I would loose interest after the 1st one.

Instead Ritchie should go back to his roots with Statham about the London underworld.

Absolutely, best John Boorman's film. I saw it like 12 times.

How about that third Sherlock Holmes you promised a while back Ritchie? Finish one thing before you start another.

@biz

f*ck, thanks man haha, screwed that one up.

A much better idea would be to find a writer, have them spew out five teenie-type Arthurian novels born out of the Twilight/Hunger Games formula, and then hire someone to direct the six-film adaptation, the fifth one being split into two films.

The way it is, they're planning on make six films no one wants to see.

I got tired just reading this article about the film, so good luck with making 6 films about King Arthur. And dont most medevil stuff normally fail at box office?
