Guy Ritchie to Direct First of Six "King Arthur" FilmsSubmit Comment
Four year ago it was reported that Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch) signed on to direct a "King Arthur" film for Warner Bros. At the time, Ritchie was working on the script with John Hodge (The Beach).

The project eventually fell apart, but now comes word that it's back and has a new ambitious plan associated with it. According to Deadline, Ritchie is once again attached to direct "King Arthur," which will be a big-budget movie that's means to span six films. Joby Harold (Awake) already wrote the script for the first installment.

Project aims to be a re-imagining of the legend of Arthur, believed to have been a 6th century king who defended Britain against Saxon invaders. Key source material will be Thomas Mallory's "Le Morte d'Arthur," published in 1485 as a compilation of French and English tales.

A much better idea would be to find a writer, have them spew out five teenie-type Arthurian novels born out of the Twilight/Hunger Games formula, and then hire someone to direct the six-film adaptation, the fifth one being split into two films.

The way it is, they're planning on make six films no one wants to see.
