Batman Confirmed For "Gotham" Prequel TV Series

Batman Confirmed For "Gotham" Prequel TV SeriesSubmit Comment
Back in September, we learned that Warner Bros and 20th Century Fox are developing a live-action "Gotham" TV series, which will take place in the same world that Batman exists, but will not actually feature the character.

Instead, the series will explore the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous. In "Gotham," Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and has yet to meet Batman.

Then came word that the first episode will focus on Gordon trying to solve the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne, the parents of Bruce Wayne. As a result, the studios started searching for an actor to play a 12-year-old Bruce.

And now, Fox has confirmed that Batman will definitely be part of the series, which will be as much of an origin story for superhero as for Gordon. The studio went on to say that Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman may appear in the series. "It's Gotham teetering on the edge. This is all of the classic Batman characters."

The plan for the series to is ultimately end with Bruce Wayne putting on the cape and becoming Batman. Filming will take place in March.

Uh correction, alex, it's not Batman, it's 12 years old bruce wayne. BIG difference. If the series survived like smallville (which I highly doubt it will)then at the finale we probably will see Bruce dons the cape and cowl.

Maybe even get a Ben Affleck Cameo if you're lucky. or not so lucky, depending on opinion

They could've just turned the Gotham Central series into a TV Show and that'd be cool.

This sounds a lot like the plot from smallville.

Eh, I still think it will fail. The best part of Batman is f*cking Batman. In Smallville at least Clark had Superman powers. I sorta don't give a sh*t about seeing Bruce run on rooftops unless he has the cape and cowl.

You know what series I remember actually being pretty good but then it got cancelled even with decent ratings...Birds of Prey. Actually pretty well done regardless of the cheap effects at the time. Too bad we couldn't bring that back. Was actually a pretty good show.

Now I'm worried about this show. I was thinking a Detective show based in Gotham City would be great. If it was surrounding Gordon and will focus on the corruption in the City and the Mob families.

So Batman will appear in the series, but only at its end, which may never come because it might get cancelled beforehand.

Great way to write an article, Albert Einstein.
