Ridley Scott Making a "Halo" Film?

Ridley Scott Making a "Halo" Film?Submit Comment
Microsoft has made several attempts at turning its popular "Halo" video game into a movie. At one point Neill Blomkamp (Elysium, District 9) was on board to direct, while Peter Jackson was set to produce. Eventually things fell apart, but not before the company made another attempt with Steven Spielberg taking control of the project.

As of lately, very little has seemingly been going on. But now comes word from Production Weekly that a project called "Untitled Halo Project" is in development. When pressed for more information, Production Weekly revealed that this has nothing to do with Spielberg or Jackson.

"The HALO project is a live-action feature-length digital produced by Ridley Scott," said the website, adding that Paul Scheuring ("Prison Break") is writing the screenplay.

While it's still early to say that Microsoft is developing a theatrical "Halo" film, it sure seems like that's exactly what's happening. Stay tuned.

Last time Ridley made a big budget sci-fi flick, he sh*t the bed.

Halo could be a gorgeous film if done right. I'm not sure Ridley Scott is the right man for the job as I've a big percentage of respect for him since the cluster-f*ck formerly known as Prometheus. He does know about good visuals though which will be an important part of the film. Wasn't their loads of politics involved with this anyway, directors will have to do what Microsoft wants with the film instead of having creative freedom. Either way I'm sure it will be good now Michael Douglas is in it.

Yeah nobody cares about this anymore. You had our money 11 years ago. We've since spent it.

Its not a movie. Its a tv show. With the launch of xbox one, microsofts newest console came news of a television production studio who will make first run television series for the xbox platform.

the first project announced was a live action halo tv show produced by steven spielberg. Steve himself was part of the announcement and he gave a video speech to that end.

To my knowledge speilberg is only producing not directing so I guess its possible that he convinced scott to shoot the pilot. Thats something alot of hollywood directors have been doing lately, directing high profile pilots.

The reason a movie was never made came down to budget and creative control. Microsoft ended up deciding that they cared more about protecting the brand by keeping creative control which lead to them deciding to do everything in house.

I highly doubt they would make a tv show and big budget movie at the same time. It would make more sense to test the waters with the tv show and hope it eventually spawns a movie.

But ya, a seperate movie production is very unlikely if you have been following this story for the last 7 years as I have.

LOL He posted the photo for the other article on this too? Huh...well still that would be an interesting idea. Douglas has a very commanding presence in film even now. He could make a good commander or something.

"The Game" was just a prequel to "Halo". The movie will be nothing but Douglas screaming at people accusing them of being a part of the Covenant invasion.

So if I start a movie news website and publish any old rumor I hear, think I hear, or imagine, then WorstPreviews will publish my "news" as fact?

Cool.

In other news, Alex has AIDS and only thirty days left to live.
