Matt Reeves to Direct Third "Planet of the Apes" MovieSubmit Comment
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes," the reboot of the "Planet of the Apes" franchise, was a surprise hit when it grossed $482 million worldwide back in 2011. A sequel was immediately greenlit, but director Rupert Wyatt refused to return.

After a long search, Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield) signed on to replace Wyatt. And now his "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is set to hit theaters on July 11th.

Apparently things are going well, because as 20th Century Fox started doing test screenings, the studio also offered Reeves the chance to direct the third installment. Reeves agreed and is now working out his overall deal, which will include directing and co-writing the script with Mark Bomback, one of the writers of the second film.

@telur

^^Telur is comparing this movie with The Bourne Identity trilogy...Doug Liman setup the first & was a hit, but declined to return. Paul Greengrass finished part 2 & 3 as hits...

I know where Telur is coming from, but its too soon to tell...

I doubt anyone does over-used shaky cam quite like Greengrass, not even Matt Reeves.
