Kevin James' "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" Sequel is Happening

Kevin James' "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" hit theaters almost exactly four years ago and went on to become a surprise hit by grossing $183 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of only $26 million.

The comedy wasn't liked by critics, with a current RottenTomatoes rating sitting at 33%. But it's difficult to ignore the box office results, which is why Sony Pictures ha announced that it's moving forward with a sequel.

James is set to return as Paul Blart. He will once again co-write the script with Nick Bakay. Steve Carr, who directed the original, will not return. The studio is now in talks with Andy Fickman (The Game Plan) to replace him. The plan is to begin shooting in April.

Paul Blart 2: Electric Segway Boogaloo. That segway deserves its own spin-off

I don't see how they can make a sequel without Carr.

James is a funny guy. I like that there's a clean comedian out there who occasionally makes movies acceptably entertaining for the whole family.

Seinfeld,Gaffigan,Brian Regan are clean
and they're actually funny

^true, but James made Here Comes the Boom, which almost gives him a pass for those aggressively stupid Grown Ups movies... ALMOST.

Brian Regan is awesome.

Hayek is vile (at least she was after she married that rich schlub)
James is just annoying

Let Sandler hang out with me for five minutes so i can act loopy and cameo in all his movies

then hopefully you'll be saying,"that guy pornfly gets a pass for making Last Of The Drinkin' Ricans"

proof that hollywood is full of sh*t MOST times...they completely ignore the wrong numbers, spend more expecting more and end up with only a 50/50 chance of seeing that same success...barely watched the first one and lost interest pretty quick...especially when they portray a security guard in a film and slap a hollywood name over it thinking it's fancy...who's the crook in this one? miley cyrus and her twerk take over?
Deaft0ne writes:

@Stapes

That Birthday Genie idea actually sounds like a stupid Sandler movie. If something like that comes out in the next few years then you'll know they stole the idea from you.

To think it only took a decade or so to go from Chevy Chase to Kevin James.

Film wasn't even that good to deserve a sequel.
