Back in 2010, Warner Bros released its remake of "Clash of the Titans." The plan was to develop a trilogy, but the first slightly underperformed with box office earnings of $493 million on a budget of $125 million.

Despite poor reviews (28% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes), the studio was hoping that things will improve, greenlighting a sequel in 2012. But the sequel, called "Wrath of the Titans," was worse in every category. Not only did it gross only $305 million on a budget of $150 million, but the RottenTomatoes fresh rating dropped to a lousy 25%.

Now, in a new interview, "Clash of the Titans" producer Basil Iwanyk revealed that a third installment is not currently in the works.

"In terms of 'Clash of the Titans 3,' it's one of those situations where a movie will float away and then come back when it's supposed to come back," he said. "I think it is, 'Okay, what's the new idea? How do you make it fresh?' A lot of movies have come out in that world, including 'Immortals' and '300.' So there will be a time and place where someone will come up with a great idea for it and how to make it feel different and fresh from the previous ones. Then we'll hopefully move forward on that."

I think it also has to do with since Legendary and Warner Brothers were co financing these films and now they have split, WB are not going to take a risk on self financing this.
