Trailer for "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is Here!Submit Comment
20th Century Fox unveiled the first trailer for "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," which is a sequel to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Judy Greer. Check it out below.

Plot: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

The new movie is directed by Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield) and is set to hit theaters on July 11th, 2014.

You know what I would like to see? A movie about the future that isn't bleak, dark and grim. Just one film where the future isn't some pitiless, miserable death-hole. Just one.

Ha, 12-21-12 came and went without so much as a hiccup. The future is here. I still trip out sometimes over the fact that I can download any movie I want. My Roku would have been a god send 12 years ago.
But yea, according to James Cameron and Hollywood, our future is fu(ked

@Warriors: funny you say that because just the other day I was reading some comment on Yahoo from someone saying how the world is in such terrible shape and how our future is pretty much all doom and gloom, but then I thought about it. Would that person want to live a thousand years ago when a dirty rat could annihilate a million people? When one scratch was the difference between like and a painful death? When one dry season meant mass starvation?

People bitch about now, and they bitch about the future, but never have we had so much power over what happens to us. No longer are we at the mercy of nature's whim.

I guess that's why I like Star Trek (the one ones) because it portrays a future that isn't dark and gloomy, one in which man has not only conquered his environment but his own internal nature. Gives me a little hope.

Have you ever read "On Death and Dying."?
That book hits all of your points. Hundreds of years ago if a man were to take your life he would have to do it face to face, or at least in the same vicinity. Now, a bomb can be dropped on your head and no matter how healthy or bad ass you are, you will die...

We can't be dumb enough to allow Apes to take over the world though...Wait, Obama is President

@Warriors: you mean the book about the five stages of dying? No, but I've heard of the concept.

Speaking of killing people remotely, have you seen what Boston Robotics is doing? Look up Big Dog and robot cheetah on Youtube. Basically they're creating robotic animals; the robo-cheetah reminds me of AMI from Red Planet.

Another thing I saw recently is a tiny autonomous plane that can sense it's surroundings and react accordingly. Frightening stuff which is why I mention it in response to what you said: in the future, not only will we be able to kill people wherever and whenever, we'll be able to just send in a nuclear-tipped c*ckroach to do it.

Shows Like ER and Breaking Bad had many one Hour episodes that were Very well written. Even The Sopranos Ending was probably better then that of Six Feet Under. I've never watched and am basing that on pure speculation and assumption to the fact that I personally think The Sopranos was the best ending to any show I've ever watched.

BUT, To each his own I suppose lol

I wonder when they'll stop making these movies. All it will take is for this one to bomb. Im pretty sure they were setting Tim Burton's up to be a franchise, but it sucked so that didn't happen.
How funny would it be if Avatar 2 bombed? I'd start going to church if that happened.

I just read the Wiki synopsis for Burton's 2001 remake and I had no idea it was a parable for slavery. I'm not kidding at all. Basically they just reversed the roles and made the humans the slaves and the a[es the owners. Seriously. Read the synopsis yourself.

"Leo comes across a female chimpanzee named Ari (Helena Bonham Carter), who protests the awful treatment humans receive. Ari decides to buy Leo and a female slave named Daena (Estella Warren) to have them work as servants in the house of her father, Senator Sandar (David Warner). Leo escapes his cage and frees other humans. Ari sees them, but Leo manages to convince Ari to join a human rebellion against the apes. General Thade (Tim Roth) and Colonel Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan) march ape warriors in pursuit of the humans. Leo discovers Calima (the temple of "Semos"), a forbidden, but holy, site for the apes."

Sure, you could say it's a role reversal of the way humans treat chimps, but I think the slave analogy is a lot a stronger.

Disturbing. Reads more like Django Unchained than the original film.

On his website he gave it a 3 out of 4, which 0.75, and on WP he gave it a 8 out of 10, which is 0.8.

And the f*cker uses half stars, so he could have given it a 3.5 out of 4, which is 0.875 and much closer to WP's rating system.

Guess Dusty rated it first on his website and then Alex said "hmmm, that one looks just awful enough for my site. I'll take it!".

Does anyone remember rabid, the guy who copy-paste-plagiarized Wikipedia? Probably not. Cinema does, though.

Anyway, here he is on CBM saying Clowes can't sue Shia because the latter didn't make any money stealing the former's work.

You can actually go to jail for ANY copyright infringement, whether you made money from it or not, not that Shia will go to jail.

Certainly it's not fair (or derivative) use since he stole entire passages from the graphic novel, and in some cases lifted entire scenes. That's not just plagiarism, that's arguably copyright infringement, which is a crime punishable by fines and prison (again, not that Shia, who is a "rich person", will receive either).

Also, Shia's been selling his sh*tty comics, which contain purloined copyrighted material, for a while now, so that's definitely infringement.

If you're out there, Rabid, please come in from the cold so we can have a discussion on why you're wrong as hell.
PORN-FLY writes:

minkowski writes:
on December 18th, 2013 at 9:49:19 PM

@Pornfly: I had to look it up, to be honest, so I now know plagiarism isn't in itself a criminal or civil offense, at least not in the US, but copyright infringement clearly is, and if Clowes had a copyright on his work, which is more than likely, and Shia infringed it, well, that would seem to me to be some kind of crime, right?

f*cking Shia. I never liked you, not that you give a f*ck. I hated your acting, your goofy looks, your sh*tty films, the remarks you made about seeing your mother and father have sex, and the fact you were always getting beaten up for being a douche f*ck. Now here you are stealing other people's work and passing it off as your own. You're a real piece of sh*t.

Had he pirated the man's graphic novel, fine, even for a wealthy guy like him, but to pass of some other person's works as he own just pisses me off.

And no, *ssholes, quoting a source isn't the same as passing it off as your own.

Im backing Kevin Zegers...He has been putting out nothing but quality movies...
Frozen and The Perfect Age of Rock and Roll were quality

The Loved Ones is another movie that imma start STRONGLY recommending to folks...That movie was insane. Kinda pissed that it took me nearly 5 years to discover it

Another new topic-

SOA was cool the first 2 seasons. Jax is the sole source of the MC's problems....
If they got rid of Jax in seaon 3, The MC would be without drama.....
The reason I started watching SOA was because it reminded me of The Warriors-
Gangs repping their colors and dying for them-
But now SOA plays out like a soap.....Jax shoulda gone nomad in season 2
f*ck U Kurt Sutter....

minkowski writes:

I don't think Sandy Hook was faked, not at all, but I do know one thing: ABCNEWS has been running a clear smear campaign against guns ever since Sandy Hook.

Every single time someone stubs their toe with a gun, they run it front page and then insert some jab at the "lack of gun control", as if the people doing the killing wouldn't have succeeded if guns were more heavily regulated.

SoA has been consistently solid and well written throughout each season. It's obviously a serial drama you have to follow in order with every episode.

Just 1 season left now but Kurt Sutter is planning a 13 ep prequel series for 2016, "Sam Crow Forever" about the founding of SoA with John Teller set in the 70s.

SAMCRO!!! I really do love that show, all I'm saying is Jax drama is the main reason why the MC has so much trouble...His kids, his gf, his mom, his dad, his step dad...Season 6 ended hardcore, but I liked the show a lot more before Jax was pres, and I wish that he would have just gone nomad....
Yea, a prequel would be awesome, but Id rather continue the story with his sons...Imagine trying to explain the situation to those kids? ha
And Gemma needs to die, and the ex sheriff....Shes lucky that shes married to Kurt
M. Bullitt writes:
on December 19th, 2013 at 4:26:59 AM

Speaking of SOA, I found the final episode was unnecessarily gruesome and unlike Breaking Bad, Kurt Sutter has no sense of dignity for his characters. Tara didn't need to die like that and how come Gemma couldn't be reached during that afternoon? Gemma should've been killed off like that. Sutter has to kill in every season some major character by the end of it there'll be more dead people than the living ones. He's exaggerating way too much season after season.
