"Fast and Furious 7" May Get Delayed After Paul Walker's Death

"Fast and Furious 7" May Get Delayed After Paul WalkerSubmit Comment
After the news that Paul Walker tragically passed away in a car crash, Universal Pictures and the entire team behind "Fast and Furious 7" had to not only deal with the death of a friend, but figure out the plan for the movie, which was in the middle of filming.

Walker, along with the rest of the cast and crew, were on hiatus for the Thanksgiving holiday and had been scheduled to return to Atlanta on Sunday to resume shooting. Those plans are now on hold, but Universal says that "Fast and Furious 7" will not be abandoned entirely.

Director James Wan and Universal executives held a conference call on Sunday, revealing that the plan is to proceed in a manner that would be respectful to Walker's death. Apparently a large part of "Fast and Furious 7" had been shot, although in January, Walker and the rest of the team were scheduled to travel to Abu Dhabi to film additional scenes.

As I've said in previous thread, they will try to save this franchise, most likely by re-writing the script. And if The Rock is joining permanently, then franchise will have new live. Also, although it will be ironic, I won't be surprised if FF7 is gonna explode and become one of the top box office in 2014.

Seriously hated to see the guy die but he was easily the worst part of these films (and every other film he was in). He was one of the worst actors in Hwood imo, a true poster boy for a pretty and talentless manufactured studio star that was rammed down the audience throats whether we liked him or not. He was "ok" in Running Scared (a truly overrated film) and Joyride but that was about it. The FaF series will be better off without him.

Still I'm sure the guy was a nice enough person who will be missed. RIP Paul.

I just think film in general is better without the him. He literally can and will be replaced by any good looking sh*tty actor. In fact I bet that idiot from sons of anarchy (and Pacific Rim)just got all of Walker's upcoming scripts forwarded to him this weekend.
Cannon writes:

Look what they did digitally with Brandon Lee some 20 years ago. With today's advancements, I'm sure they could muster up enough footage to keep Walker’s character going long enough in the film before they send (or kill) him off.

Tanman32123 writes:

I feel that they'll rewrite the ending to (Most likely) Kill him off. What else could they really do that makes sense? They have the perfect sinario, Shaw already wants them all dead it could fit in naturally.

Although Killin him off isn't exactly fair to his character they do need to look at this and at least make it make sense. They just can't have him leave with no reason.

Anyways, He was a great actor and I liked his work. Rest in Peace man :(

@Sac. Geez..he's not even in the ground and you're already pissing on his grave. You stay classy, buddy.

"Still I'm sure the guy was a nice enough person who will be missed. RIP Paul."

You just sh*t on the guy in the previous paragraph, and then you add this? That's some bogus sympathy right there.

He may hsve been a pretty boy actor, but he wasn't an abomination onscreen. I can think of many others in Holkywood who are worst actors than this guy. f*ck, he costars with two of them named Diesel and Johnson. He was good for the roles he played, at least give him that. I don't hear anyone complaining that his "FandF" character needed to be played by a Shakespearian thespian.

RIP Paul Walker.

@SACdaddy - the ghost of Paul Walker will sh*t on your face nights to come for those remarks !!!
Saw him perform in the movie Hours and a minor role in Pawn Shop Cronicles and althoug those movie were mediocre, he did a good job and gave a different picture than a polished prettyboy cop !!
SACdaddy writes:

I sh*tted on his career not him personally. I like many others have said this his entire career. It would be fake to say differently now just because he died. Especially with how he died, being stupid.
Deaft0ne writes:

They should go the Game of Death route and use cardboard cutouts of Walker and a guy in shades to finish his scenes. Also, add a lot of guys on motorcycles.

@Sac

I don't understand how you can say something like that at this very moment. He was a genuine, a very nice man and very generous as well. A bit too soon to express your thoughts for an actor who just died Yesterday.

Nevertheless, You're completely wrong as he WAS the best in the entire franchise. Proof is when he didn't appear in Tokyo Drift, it was the only film that underperformed.

I respect your opinion but I really don't think that Paul Walker deserve such harsh criticism.

Cheers cress,

BTW where was all this praise for him while he was still alive? I remember all the "pretty boy", "robotic", "Keanu Reeves clone" talk every time he landed something but never any "Paul Walker would be great for this" comments.
SACdaddy writes:

Hey I steered clear of his death thread. This was a comment mainly sparked by my thoughts on the future of the franchise. IMO it will be fine because Walker was so replaceable in it. I really don't understand how all of a sudden everyone thinks he was a decent actor. The guy got out shined by Vin Diesel for chistsake!

No film has been better because of Walker imo. I've said that for years.
M. Bullitt writes:

I've never criticised Walker for the good reason that he was very much likeable to watch on screen. Yes, some of his films were pretty dull but I didn't regret seeing them either. Into The Blue comes to mind but I don't see why he should bashed the way you did.

There are far more really bad actor out there and Walker wasn't certainly one of them.

Since yesterday my thoughts are with her little family.

RIP Paul Walker.

Why does it matter what SACdaddy says about Paul Walker two days after he died or even a year later, the geezers dead, nothing you can do about it now. He's not calling him a c*nt or saying he's glad he's dead he's just giving his opinion on his acting abilities. Are we all supposed to say every actor is amazing after they die (that would explain the praise for The Dark Knight).

It's not even like Paul Walker died of some long term disease or tragic accident. He got in a fast car with his mate and they drove fast, crashed and died. That's what happens when you drive fast and recklessly. Gotta be more upset about the people getting slaughtered by f*cked up government regimes around the world or dying of starvation, life is sh*t, death is worse, best thing to do is not take it too seriously.
minkowski writes:

@Sac: I'm almost never agree with you, but I was thinking the very same thing this morning: all these lackluster robo-drones on here and elsewhere who are suddenly possessed with a new found respect for an actor they copiously lambasted without regret while he was alive.

It stinks of hypocrisy, but then one thing I've learned is most people cannot think for their selves and almost invariably contradict what few real principles they possess.

Anyway, Universal has enough footage at this point that they can kill Walker's character off-screen.

They'll have to delay the film in order to do so, but that's the only way I can see them saving this thing.

Problem is, Walker's character will likely die during a car stunt which will then invite criticism that the film is mocking his death through commercial imitation.
M. Bullitt writes:

Walker was the passenger and and to make it worse, the driver was a racing driver. Also, I don't see why he shouldn't be respected as a person.

As for the f*cked up countries, obviously Haliburton is not interested.

This is absolutely true.

Walker had virtually zero talent. He was a golden-haired white kid from the wealthier part of California with a surfer tan and perfect white teeth. And that's why he had a career. He was the male equivalent of Jessica Alba.

Worse though is how immature, reckless and selfish he was as a person, because he had a child, family, friends and what not, plus his commitments to the studio and his co-actors, but instead of acting like a mature 40 year-old man, he's out "joyriding" like he's 16 with a fresh learner's permit.

Walker was a perpetual child, an irresponsible, sheltered and pampered kid who never grew up and who, by virtue of his perfect Cali sufer-boy good-looking exterior, made his way into an industry usually beholden to talent and ability, even though Walker had none.

As for Running Scared...piece of sh*t film imo. Walker's acting is no better than any other film in which he appears, but because the subject matter is possessed by a more ponderous nature, people take it more seriously than they should. I saw nothing in it, really, aside from the harkening to Nightmare on Elm Street, to warrant much discussion or attention.

So it's not going to stop, although Walker's death may hurt the film with the female demo.

But in the end the man was an actor and (Most) actors get good praise for their work regardless of if theyre good or not. Cause Acting ain't easy, and they do it not only for the money but to entertain us losers who can't do what they're doing lol

So yeah, He may not have been the best and he may be some white dude outta California with white teeth and a tan but I'll be damned if he didn't deserve to go out like that. People deserve better then to die in a car accident where you basically burn to a crisp, I dont give a damn who the person is or how sh*tty their work was.

Also note: I was never one of those guys who bashed him when he was alive, So obviously I'm gonna think its sh*tty that he died. Man was good in Running Scared, I also liked Joy Ride. I'm probably the only one :P

Seriously, the man had a habit of racing fast cars, and even told people at the charity he was going "joyriding". He also said that if he ever died while racing, don't grieve for him because he died with a smile.

So, yeah, he DESERVED to die the way he did, just like Wile E. Coyote deserves to die with an ACME rocket up his ass.

" People deserve better then to die in a car accident where you basically burn to a crisp, I dont give a damn who the person is or how sh*tty their work was."

Where did I or Sac or ANYONE say Paul Walker deserved to die in a fiery auto crash just because he was a sub-par actor? Where?

No, what we said is that Walker was a crappy performer, and that most people hated most of his work while he was alive, but now that's he dead, the very same people are acting like the guy was some kind of professional thespian with a blinding halo over his towheaded pate.

Sure, Sac probably dislikes the guy because he was an all-American perfect white boy, but that's not the point.

The point is, Walker killed himself by doing what Walker liked to do: drive, and ride along in, fast cars, and that, his irresponsible immature behavior, is what got him killed, not cancer, or old age, or a f*cking brakeless Mack truck in his living room on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Long story short, Walker was an often terrible performer, and we knew it and rightly said so. He went out, got drunk on stupid and then got dead.

Walker went looking for death and found the f*cker all ginned up and ready to rock.

The fact Walker's now dead changes nothing with the apparent, notable exception of our honesty.
M. Bullitt writes:
on December 2nd, 2013 at 12:39:24 PM

Well, IF Walker was the driver Then he would have died because of his passion for cars and I would agree with you but in this case there wasn't much he could have done. This kind of accident is not suppose to happen when an experienced, professional car racing driver is behind the wheel; I mean Walker trusted him enough in a €500,000 to take him for a spin. Obviously he was going to fast and he may have disabled the traction control which can explain the out of control or he was over confident, who knows. What I'm saying is that Walker was not responsible for his own death. The driver perhaps.

I'm pretty sure that's not how he wanted to die as he was burnt beyond recognition and I hope he died on the spot btw because that's really a horrible way to die.

Okay, then explain why he TOLD people he was going "joyriding", before he actually got into the f*cking car?

And why did he say

"I've always wanted to race cars, ever since I was a young boy, as I think a lot of guys have"

And

"If one day the speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling"

I also like this one:

"If you spend any time with a man, you'll realize that we're all still little boys."

Says a lot.

You also forget this fact:

"Walker’s friend Jim Torp said: ‘Roger backed it in to the garage and Paul jumped in and said “Hey, let’s go for a drive”"

@everyone
People give it a f*cking rest! Look Walker to me was on and off a good actor. He had roles indeed where he attempted to be more and that's saying something that a lot of people in Hollywood will never be! To those who piss on his career, yes you need to show consideration whether he wasn't a good one or not. It's called respecting the dead. Have a little respect for God's sake!

@SACDaddy
While you may not like his acting, the fact of the matter is that his acting is his legacy to his family and himself. Leave the man be for now and appreciate the good. That is what you do when a man passes and yes you noted he is a good man, but you have to leave all at the door for now on negative feelings. Hell if Jennifer LAwrence died tomorrow, don't get me started on how much I actually want that since i think she is single-handedly destroying class and talent in filmmaking, I would not badmouth her after her death. The fact is no one is going to talk about him in a few years so might as well let the man rest. I am somewhat spiritual and I believe the dead hear all. But the dead can't speak for themselves here so best to only note the best because they can't do anything good or bad anymore and good goes a long way.

@mink
Hypocrisy is indeed in the air and you have to deal with it for a change. This isn't about some actor who is alive and done bad sh*t. This guy did do solid movies just like Reeves has in the past. He knew that I think and that's why he invested in movies that were more action focused like FF or Hitman which he was signed on for I believe. He knew his strengths and weaknesses. He deserves a f*cking medal! He could have done some lame ass indie sh*t to try and get attention but he didn't. So whether he is a robot or not I see him as an actor who took on a certain character that he was good at.

@boogiel
Yeah FF7 will pretty much destroy box office numbers like Dark Knight did when Ledger died where it almost doubled in gross and I'm okay with that. The Rock can take over as the policeman of the story, but this also will, looking on the bright side, add dimension and emotion to the story which Wan seems to be good at. So Walker's character I'm sure will get a great send-off as clearly his cast had a lot of love for him. Not Glee, Monteith dies mixing cocaine and sh*t (Still can't get over how stupid that was!), where he is honored for taking his own life. He died in a tragic car accident like that great actor whose name escapes me. I want to say James Dean but I could be off. I remember his name mixed a couple popular actor names together. Anyway point is that Walker will get a good send-off and make this the most emotionally-investing film of the series. He will be honored and he will be missed.

@Paul Walker
Rest in Peace Mr. Walker. May you be loved in the next life as you were in this one. Thank you for never being a fake human being at least off camera and giving some great action films on camera. You were more of a man than many of us. You lived a life doing good things for people when you could have lounged in Hawaii all day instead. I hope some modern actors take note that to live a life worth living, you need to care as much about strangers as you do people in your own life. Otherwise why be human. RIP Walker.

@everyone
In some strange way I consider many of you distant friends, if not close acquaintances. You give good points but let's face the facts here. This is one guy who never was an *sshole off camera as far as I could tell. I mean how many people you know in Hollywood who manage to never do stupid sh*t in their life. This guy was a pure soul and he deserves respect and I am asking you guys to do that. Pray, respect, or however you grief a stranger, but let's just remember who he was and all the good he tried to be whether it was on or off camera. That is what we give when we remember him. We be the better people and do so accordingly. That is all I ask of you guys. Let the dead rest and let the good stories roll.

People talk about celebrity charity, as if giving 1% of your nine figure annual salary so you don't look like a miser in front of your douche actor friends is real charity, or stealing babies from Africa or idiotically lobbying against landmines like a dead, barely-attractive celebrity princess.

Here's what Jesus said about such things:

"Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.

And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”"

Yeah, I know, that sucks because it means the chump change wealthy people give out these days means little, like the greedy fools who donate to Goodwill and The Salvation Army and then demand a receipt so they can claim it on their taxes.

Even charity in America is a big business and an avenue for materialism and greed.

You don't think Walker and his acolytes hit the IRS for what they give? You don't think they don't claim it on the IRS forms they pay some schmuck to draw up in April?

Hypocrisy. You mean like talking sh*t about the guy while he was alive but now he's dead you're sucking his d*ck?

Yeah, I said he sucked when he was alive and I'm saying it NOW. He sucked. He was a sh*tty f*cking actor and he'll be totally forgotten by 99% of the public in a few years, unlike other actors who were actually good at their chosen profession and not some pin-up for jilted teenagers, loney-heart middle-aged divorcees and homosexual Seattle baristas.

You seem to be the only one to believe that Walker was the driver. It's written on every newspaper that he was the passenger. Prove me otherwise since you know better.

Fromm cnn:

"Investigators got a phone call tip Sunday suggesting that another car was at the scene when the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, driven by Walker's racing team partner, slammed into a light pole and burst into flames, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Richard Cohen told CNN."

So a new element might explain how the DRIVER, Roger Rodas, lost control as another car was involved.

I Only posted the CNN link because there's an update with an eventual second car involved that was also racing which may have caused Rodas to crash.

You see I find it difficult to believe that a racing driver lost control for no apparent reason. It rarely happens or at least it's a first to me. That Porsche Carrera GT was designed for the race and at €500,00 I'm pretty sure that he knew what he was buying meaning he could handle that particular type of driving.

@POrnfly: to quote Sleuth's unusual and cogent laconic verbalizing: whatever.

Fact is, people refuse to accept truths because they would rather live in a fantasy world of their own making.

Fact 1. Paul Walker was a nice guy and so very friendly, and gave everyone he met a huge, raging boner. Or so they all say now that he's dead. He wasn't a d*ck, apparently, but that's a low bar these days in the acting world. Basically he wasn't Christian Bale, and yet when Bale croaks, we'll have to hear how he was the savior of mankind too. But hey, when you're wealthy, beautiful and loved for being wealthy and famous, like Paul Walker, being a great person is pretty easy to do.

Hell, if I was famous and wealthy and pinned up on the back of many a husband's head, I'd be a "great guy" too.

Fact 2. He killed himself essentially by getting into a car he knew would be used for reckless racing.

Fact 3. He was a terrible actor made palatable only in comparison to Kellan Lutz and Taylor Lautner.

Fact 4. He gave to charity, but only enough to look good and not nearly enough to ever know the meaning of "sacrifice", a word very much foreign to a very lucky person like him, a word once synonymous with the much ballyhooed "charity".

Fact 5. I hope most of you die screaming in a flaming automobile crash (but it'll probably be me instead).
minkowski writes:
on December 2nd, 2013 at 2:49:45 PM

@Sleuth: look man, you want to have Paul Walker's children, good for you, but most of the rest of us couldn't care that much about him. Me? I just enjoy the argumentation.

Now go kiss your neighbors and coworkers, because I'm sure they could use some of that wildly-frenetic "love" you have for a dead stranger.

It's pretty clear that most of you have let your emotions over Walker's death cloud the topic of this thread. The thread is about how his death effects the future of the franchise. Dead or alive I would have said what I said about Walker. Hell I've been saying it for years!!! No film has ever been dependent on Walker's presence, and that's why the franchise will be fine if not more popular without him.

He was a terrible actor with nearly no redeemable quailities (on screen) outside of his good looks. He might have worked really hard at his profession but how could anyone tell? He was just as bad in his Skulls days as he was in his FaF era.

@Sleuth: None of this is directed at his family, whom he immediately discounted the minute he threw the keys to his new Porsche to a f*cking racecar driver. If you think his work onscreen is his only legacy to his child and family then you must have a very low opinion of what kind of father and friend he was offscreen. His family and friend should accept his work however good or bad it turns out. I'm not speaking to them, I'm speaking to the only people that deserve to be critical of him, those who make the choice to watch his films. Good or bad he opened himself up to career and performance scrutiny the minute he chose to be an actor. Nobody wanted him dead, but that doesn't mean some weren't praying for his career to end.

You exaggerate. I said Fast and Furious, as a series, is highly enjoyable if you're looking to waste ninety minutes on something other than films like Machete Kills...In Space.

That doesn't mean Walker was a great actor, or even good, or even watchable, and in fact, the series only got better when they introduced The Rock, as Fast Four was Vin's story and Walker was a backseat driver in Five and Six. Hell, I'd almost say they put the man in the trunk.

Yeah, the films might go on, but I doubt anyone will really notice Walker's absence seeing as he hasn't been integral to the story since 2 Fast 2 Furious.

What else does a man deserve who puts his immature and irresponsibility over his family to go joyriding fast and furious? Huh? He was f*cking FORTY and had a kid.

Seriously, the only good FaF film was Fast Five and that had nothing to do with Walker. Its story (as the crossroads of the entire series), gun violence, and ensemble pieces (mainly the Rock and Tyrese) made it a much bigger and better film than the rest of the films. They couldn't even duplicate that in the next film which makes me think that it may have just been a huge fluke Fast Five turned out as good as it did.
minkowski writes:
on December 2nd, 2013 at 3:17:57 PM

@Pornfly: that's the point all these knuckleheads are missing. Walker died doing what he loved. He even said so in that quote I posted. He told us not to feel bad for him because he went out with a smile doing what he loves, and yet here we have the predictably autonomous Alanis Morrisette clones with their jagged little pills telling the world he's somehow a f*cking victim worthy of a medal.

I don't know. Either the world is insane and I'm sane, or I'm insane and the world is sane. If the latter, how the hell do I explain Kim Kardashian, Adolf Hitler and Roseanne Barr? Did I dream them, or did they dream me?

@Sac: What made Fast Five enjoyable was the pace and the predecessor fact we finally got to see The Rock opposite Vin Diesel, all of which went stale when it was recycled into the sequel wherein The Rock goes from a juggernaut plot-advancer to just another meat head cast member.

None of this though has any bearing on Walker who hardly appeared in any of Lin's films.

And I like how giving a sh*t about how someone is treated after their die is considered a mancrush. It's called f*cking consideration. Now I'm starting a fight you bitter little piece of sh*t! Grow a f*cking conscience.

@SACdaddy

Also, he sh*t-canned the forums a while back, so I think this is just part of WorstPreviews' slow roll to death.

Also, a new quote from Paul Walker:

"The fastest I've ever gone is 184 to 186," Walker says on the video .... and then he reveals how fast he was clocked on an actual racetrack.

Lol, yeah I always thought Picardo did a great job as Johnny Cab, even though it was a very brief part of the film it was very memorable.

I am imagining James Wan's conference call with Universal being Wan saying, im his upbeat Aussie accent:"Now everyone, we have MANY options on the table for Paul Walker to still appear in the film..." and then run off a list including CGI/Puppets/Stand-Ins/Ski Masks/etc.

Imho it should be like that, just business as usual. Paul Walker was an idiot to get in that car knowing the potentially deadly outcome for letting his "friend" drive that f*cking fast and putting both of them in danger.

@Deaftone: yep. In the TMZ video, Walker brags about the top speed of his car on the freeway. 185 mph. That's more than enough to go back in time twice. But we're to believe Walker was just some innocent guy who got into the car without a clue what was happening.

Lots of sympathy for this guy, but virtually none for the family, friends and coworkers he's destroyed. Not to mention how much time and money he cost his boss Universal.

Yeah I have seen Joyride and it was decent. The one odd thing about that movie is Ted Levine from Silence of the Lambs as Jame Gumb/Buffalo Bill is the voice on the radio but at the end his voice is dubbed onto some random fat pigman.

It was a terrible choice that made no sense because Levine can be incredibly creepy. Unless Levine was unable to film an ending so they hired Big Boy instead.

Someone needs to query Levine about this.

Have to say it is quite shocking how man people are drinking the Paul Walker cool aid. Sure it is unfortunate he died but it doesnt change the fact he was a sh*t actor and waiting a year to say it doesnt save his feeling or family's none of them are lurking the worstpreviews comment section hoping for a good wrap on his career
and sleuth you seem like a nice guy but the dead can hear what we say thats a little batsh*t crazy the afterlife is a creature comfort for the weak minded

and all this started from sac having some valid points which were not even said crassly everyone needs to save all this pent up emotion for a real cause they care about rather than a rich guy dying on a joy ride

What Bateman said :)

@Sleuth: If I'm going to hell for thinking the film industry is better off without Paul Walker then so be it. Why don't you join me? I'm sure they play Walker's films on an endless loop down there. One man's Hell is another man's Heaven though...right?

Paul Walker was a first-class ahole. You guys are right about him.
minkowski writes:

^^So what? He spent ten grand on a ring for someone, someone who could actually afford a ring without Walker's help.

Yesterday I gave a homeless guy, who didn't have a pot to piss in, twenty bucks. That twenty bucks was a larger percentage of the money I make in a year than the ten grand Paul Walker gave to that couple.

Not saying Walker wasn't a nice guy or not generous, but giving ten grand when you make twenty million a year isn't as generous as giving twenty when you make a f*ckload less annually.

Now where is MY Youtube video? Oh, that's right. I'm not a "celebrity".
minkowski writes:

And buddy, I could have damned well used that twenty. On the other hand, Walker already had everything he could ever want.

BIG f*cking difference!
Nihilist writes:

That is why I said he was an ahole. He spent $10k on a RING instead of trying to talk that couple out of purchasing such a pricey item. For what, what good is a 10k ring? You could get some used up dental floss and tie it around a finger. Bam you got yourself a ring and save 10k. The value is in what the item represents not in what it is made out of.

Paul Walker could have given 500 homeless people $20 each but that selfish prick just wanted to please two people. The good of the few outweigh the good of the many I suppose.
minkowski writes:
on December 3rd, 2013 at 10:32:39 PM

Okay, sure, but I'd think more of him if had spent time down at the local soup kitchen instead of spending money he doesn't need, because his time was probably a lot more valuable, and thus an actual sacrifice.

I mean, really, would Paul Walker given up racing his cars to feed the poor? Not bloody likely.
