"Sin City" TV Series to Immediately Follow "Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For"Submit Comment
The Weinstein Company revealed that after "Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For," the plan is to begin developing a "Sin City" TV series that would be under the supervision of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller.

IN a New York Times interview, Bob Weinstein said that he's working on a pilot episode for a "Scream" series for MTV and developing a 10-part series based on Stephen King's "The Mist," alongside Frank Darabont.

With the "Sin City" series, the goal is to quickly follow the August release of the sequel.

Methinks most people don't understand both Machete and Machete Kills are pure unabashed satire and not meant as anything more. Take 'em or leave 'em fare.

So is everything Rodriguez does. Which my point.
minkowski writes:

Well, except for Sin City, which was modestly hailed by fans and critics alike, and even the Spy Kids films are popular enough to warrant several sequels.

At least he's not Paul W. S Anderson, who puts his talentless whore wife into every film like Rob Zombie.

"So is everything Rodriguez does. Which my point."

Yeah, but if you're negative and apathetic enough you, or anyone else for that matter, can say the same thing about any director.

"Kubrick. Meh. f*ck him. I can take him or leave him."

Anyway, looking forward to Sin City 2, which is a film Rob needs to put himself back in the "serious filmmaker" category after years of masturbating to silly, satirical films like Machete and Spy Kids. He's been lazy far too long.

I just think the guy's a no talent hack is all.

IMHO
minkowski writes:

But he made Sin City, which took more talent than most people possess.

Try finding one guy on the street who could make Sin City. Just one.

Compared to the great directors, no. Compared to the hacks, like Ratner and Anderson, yes.

It's all relative.

IMHO.

:D

And Desperado.

Forgot that gem.

My bother says Robert Rodriguez has more talent than anyone on here, that's for sure.

Not a fan of Rob myself, just saying.

better be on HBO.

I grew up reading sin city, I give Rodriguez props for efforts, sin city wouldnt have been adapted without him. I must have sin city at least five times in theaters. But in the end, these days at least, I just find the film overrated. The only part I enjoy mow is the brief scene directed by Tarantino.

Saw Robert Rodriguez speak a couple months ago. At the very least you have to appreciate the doors he's opened for different genres and actors. George Clooney got his first significant cinematic push with From Dusk Till Dawn. Rodriguez helped show studios not every action film needs a bloated budget. Sin City is probably the only flick filmed with CGI backdrops that I don't immediately disdain.

He definitely needs to get more creative and ambitious again though. Its been a while.

Desperado never gets old, It's just a really fun movie.

Don't forget From Dusk Til Dawn. A classic. Rodriguez I feel just makes movies he wants to make and I can respect that. But it's true that it's important he reminds the true fans of film that he has real 'talent' for film-making.

On a side note "The Mist" was, IMO, a seriously underrated film and I am curious how they would make a TV Series work... Never read the book so I guess my opinion on the movie is more or less "uneducated" in relation to the source material. Regardless if anyone is privy to the actual story how would a TV Series work??

Id argue quite vigorously that sin city was more of a product of frank millers involvement than RR. I too also feel RR is a hack with limited talent that gets blown out of proportion.

Id compare him to the guy that rides the bench on a high powered NBA team. Guys like jordan and byrd run the show and score all the points and the little guy just fills in for brief moments to allow them to catch his breath.

RR greatly benifets from the talent around him. I honestly believe any director with moderate experience and talent could have made sin city with millers help
